PCV Leak

........ used a Kirban PCV and Grommet. Leaks like a bitch where the PCV comes through the grommet hole. Again I stress that I used Kirban's! After taking the PCV back out and then reinstalling it using RTV ... it still leaked. So I ordered another set from Kirban. Still leaks. Now what? I can't believe I'm the only person to run into this. ......Any advice?

Never seen or heard of this issue and I have worked on turbo Buicks since the beginning?

My guess it the rubber grommet is aftermarket, and is listed for a Buick, but is actually a "fit-all" piece?

I had a large stock of original GM grommets that we used, and lately obtained some from TA Performance which worked ok.

Maybe try another source for the grommet and also be sure you have the correct PCV as it is a turbo only part.

Actually I have a TA grommet here and would be glad to send it to you just to see if this will solve your issue.
 
I put a piece of heat shrink around the end of the PCV valve that goes into the gromment to help mine seal better. The heat shrink is rubbery and thickens up once it's heated and shrinks around the PCV. You could do a couple of layers if the fit is real loose.
 
Also, the ECM expects an unmetered air leak from the PCV. If you block off that circuit the computer will still be adding fuel for the air that isn't there.

Getting a check valve with very low cracking pressure can fortify one way operation and take the pressure (literally) off of the PCV valve.
 
Moisture is produced when cold steel is heated. The colder the steel, the more moisture. Controlled temp storage can keep moisture content down but you're always going to get some.

A hot motor will cook the moisture out but here is something else to think about. What if you develope a small coolant leak from a bad hg or a leaking intake? The pcv will vacuum that moisture out more than you think. I learned that last year when my hg's were leaking. My pcv catch would fill up with milk while oil never showed signs.

I don't know why people insist on running without a pcv. It makes no sense to me.

I have k&n style breathers on both valve covers

I've been reading up on pcvs a lot and have decided to continut using one. I just don't understand why I'm having such a hard time getting this thing to seal.

I've been using Kirbans parts. I'll order some fron nos4gn and see how they work.

The problem with the grommet that is sold by the parts stores is that the hole is too tight for the pcv to fit through. Maybe try playing around with one of those. Or try a new pcv.
 
Why not use a fitting instead of the cumbersome rubber groomet?
A metal fitting with a small hose that connects to the pcv.
..
No more rubber leaks or change.

What size is the pcv hole without the groomet?

Nick also installed one in my intake when he rebuilt my engine and fits perfect. Not like a few I have seen bulging out.
