Pet Peeve: People Revving at me and then running away

In town today I pulled onto the highway in front of an SRT-8 Charger. At the next light, I needed to turn off to make a U-turn to go home. As I was slowing in the turn lane, the SRT-8 slowed beside me, gave it a healthy rev, then took off.

I figured what the heck. It's early Sunday, light traffic and lots of stoplights on this 4-lane road. I got out of the turn lane and immediately caught up to him. As soon as he realized I was behind him, he cut into the mall parking lot. WTF?

Maybe he was going to the mall but hey, why rev at me? Plus it wouldn't be so far out of the way to catch a light and swing back to the mall.

I was pretty pissed off, his nut huggers were looking over at us laughing so I know he was screwing with me. I was fortunate enough to line up next to him so you can guess what happened to him when the tree dropped.

It's just people trying to show off. But it could also be their way of saying "nice ride". I was in my classic restored Chevy Nova and was passing a lifted 4X4 going the opposite direction who decided to throw it in neutral and rev it so I could get a dose of his cracking glasspacks.

That happens to me sometimes but what I hate even more is they rev on you and you're in bumper to bumper traffic! Like I'm gonna try to race in 10 mph traffic. All the while they're giving me the "stare". And 90% of the time it's some douchebag in a Mustang with Flowmasters.

I would have f'd with him on the line. Pull through the lights. Back out then sit there with the pre stage lit tell him he's #1 via sign language then waste him. Then i would proceed to go over to the pit area and confront him and his nut swingers face to face. Krazy glue in the locks when the a$$ isnt looking works wonders too.

Nah, it was just some dude who thought his SRT-8 was fast. It might've been, I dunno. He didn't want to find out if mine was fast, though.

I was out in the corvette and I came up on a ws6.It was nice out and the guy kept revving the piss out of it.There was a car in front of him that stopped so I went by him and when he came back up on me he must have noticed the zr1 emblem and would not get next to me.I was not being a jerk or anything he started it.Back in the day when you called someone out or started antagonizing them. it was on. It didnt matter if it was an old lady in a pinto or blown big block chevelle the race was on.

Yeah, that's kind of my mentality which is why I went after him. Maybe it's different nowadays?

I was at Autozone today picking up parts for my wife's aunt's car. The repair on her car had already consumed a chunk of my day and I wanted in and out of there as quickly as possible to finish the job.

A guy walked up to me and said "Is that your Grand National?!!!". I said yes, and we talked a bit. He said he really wanted to see the rest of it. He waited for me outside the store. I really didn't have the time but I spent about 15 mins talking to him and his dad. His dad has a 9-second TA and he has a quick Fox body. They were super nice guys and his dad was grateful that I talked some sense into his son about tire selection.

The funny part was when I started the car to drive away. He said it's soooo quiet. And it really is - revving it at people goes pretty much unnoticed. It's what the TRs are all about. Speak softly and carry a big stick.

On non-fuel injected cars it used to be it had to be reved just to keep the thing running. I used to have a bored out pontiac 455. It would pop a powervalve every once in a while so it meant the jump to neutral and a few small revs when at stop lights. On newer cars it must equate to a small penis..

At least some decent cars rev at you! I had a saturn with some type of bs exhaust get me... I did'nt even look over as he was tryin to blow his motor up.
