Changing to champion aluminum heads and was wondering with the bigger valves on the new heads, should I check for piston to valve clearance? never checked when I put the motor together the first time but would hate to have an issue now.

How could your question be answered without at least knowing cam lift and rocker ratio?

The intake valves are .25" to.30" wider and very close to the stock location. If you have less than .600 lift net i wouldnt be too worried about it. The only way to know the exact clearance is to check it.

Intake 210 @ .050 .516 lift
Exhaust 215 @ .050 .516 lift
110 L/S (installs at 110)

with 1.55 rockers

So has anyone had to fly cut pistons with a mild cam .516 lift with champion aluminum heads?

You will be fine If I can run 600 lift stage II heads....without cutting I would say your safe with that cam......
