Just wondering if anyone has bought a plain old regal and made a GN or T-Type clone including the turbo/engine. What is the difference in engine config. Will it pass smog?

What I was thinking is that a Regular old Regal should be lower to insure and will cost me 1000-1500 to pick one up (86-87). I am 23 and have a bad driving record from owning a couple fast
F-Bodies at a younger age.

What snags would I expect to run into?

What does a used 3800 Turbo engine go for?

T.I.A.

I'd be willing to bet smog would not be an issue. I think these cars run cleaner than the carbed versions out in those years.

As for the engine..its not a 3800 series. Its a whole diff block. Just shares the displacement.;)

With the swap, try and find the rear end too. Its an 8 and a half inch 3.42 rear I believe.

Ironic about ur driving record.. I'm 24 and have a bad record from driving Turbo Buicks. Even got a speeding ticket in an 83 Riv T-Type.

Hmmm....well we are close (I'll be 24 next Monday).
What I ment is will it pass visual if it's in a non-turbo regal vin code? Can you just adjust the timing/maf/etc. and remove the turbo?

Why would you want to remove the turbo for smog testing?

Try reading www.gnttype.org for some information on these cars.

Did you wreck the 3 f-bodies in your sig?

Yeah..kinda what my idea was.

No..the 3 F-Bodies just kept getting traded in...I can see you you got confused though...i'll change it.
