Honestly the heads werent that bad to take out. Some of the bolts came out like nothing, i think i had only one bolt that felt super tight, the rest just came out. Well here is the rest of the carnage. I think im done for the day.

One bolt at a time, got me here for the day.

Trunk full of goodies

Also the sealent around the head studs has been leaking. Some of them in the pics are very rusty about the threads. ;)

Are you planning on doing bearings also.....pull it.

You know i have not decided on the bearing yet, however i have gotten this far, i wouldnt be suprised if i pulled the whole thing out tommm. Im done for the day so stayed tuned for more carnage

yeah i did the compression test, the guy said they seemed fine, i didnt do it myself, i was just there, it was late at night and i dont really remember....however i can see the gasket coming apart....plus there are only so many ways u can have disappearing radiator fluid. i almost have the head off anyways...i would feel better just to change it, they head need to be cleaned up anyways lots of white junky crap on one of the ports.

i mean even though im not 100% positive it is yet, i matched the headgasket material to the stuff found in the pan, so i dont know really where else to go....

if there is any other possibilities let me know, headed out to the store to pick up some 1/2 drive sockets

forget to mention im having way too much fun doing this  one bolt at a time
the compression were all equal within 10psi of each other. dont trust my compression tester? = ( lol. no compression was okay. remember did we check #6?

Dude.....

Never set engine parts out in the *dirt*.
You want to keep everything as clean as possible, yes, you'll be cleaning things before assembly, but the less you have contaminated things, the less forwign matter will get into the engine. Even the felt from show rags, will show up in the first oil change or two. Engine work is like doing cardiac work on a human, you want to keep things clean, the closer to surgically the better. I've seen some of the worst *habits* deveople from just getting away from things, once or twice. And I'm sure there are some that'll say I'm being too critical about things, but, IMO, it's just gambling, if you don't do your best all the time.

Hey bruce no sweat, your criticism is wanted and understood. All the parts are wrapped up and put away. I will be extra carefull for the rest of the carnage and will have an expert eye with me when it goes back together. I think im going to pull it all out tomm and get a refresh.

Thanks for all the help guys keep them coming

You seem not to be scared at all to hit the wrenches. With that in mind... Is this a high mile motor? If so I would pull the motor and check the bearings timing chain ect.. It will be very easy just to pull it at this point and easy to assemble on a stand.

O im not afraid, lots of busted knuckles, bad words, and pains in weird areas, in all im having fun.

The motor has approx. 90k on it, if has a gnx dash, but my guess is pretty much accurate. The bearing on #3 looked ok, just not like fresh bearings.

I believe the bore on the motor is stock bore. I was told that the motor was never rebuilt. The cam and lifters looked good. Honestly this car probably just needed a new timing chain and head gaskets. But hey one bolt at a time got me here.

I dont know where im going to end up, but hopefully with all you guys helping i'll get somewhere

Sorry to see all the carnage. FWIW, I'd say the material in the pan is from a bad headgasket (OEM type). The gaskets you have on the car right now really aren't what you want. The Felpro 9441 PT would be better. Just as a question did Sod Bogosian put the heads on? He likes to use 1026 gaskets.

I really dont know who put the gaskets on. I bought the car out of state and from what i was told it was done out there. I doubt Sod did it.

The motor will be out tomm. that is the goal

Get ur facts right kevin, you have a habit of spouting information that is incorrect. The only part i broke on my car was a rocker shaft. The fact that i didnt buy your car and you cant get over that is disgusting, it is about time you grow up and grow past that. It is really pointless to get into a pissing contest about who's car is a bigger POS.

Like i said before im posting to find out information, it would be greatly appreciated if you could show some respect and dignity by STFU and staying out my post. It is clear you are not wanted. Thanks in advance

Now back to the scheduled program.

Damn I wish i would have looked at this thread sooner. I would have said to not even think about pulling the heads off
You may think you've matched it up to some head gasket material, but I can say with 95% confidence that the stuff you were looking at was old corroded stock valve seal material. They harden up, crack into little pieces, and end up in your pan. My first year in the engine biz (19 years old...34 now...damn Im old), I was doing nothing but tearing down old motors, numbering, scraping gaskets, hot tanking, glass beading, oven baking...just tearing down and prepping everything for the machinists. I probably could have filled a 55 gallon drum with all the valve seal particles I pulled out of oil pans.

It is very possible that you are right, however i still would have to find where the slowly disappearing radiator fluid was going.

I sent you a pm VaderV6

Throw some cometics on there after you tear it down to check the other mystery work that has been done on it. It wouldnt hurt to get the block machined at this point.

The headgasket you show in the picture appears to have been leaking compression past the flame ring on the center cylinder. It's wasn't any good to start with.

You wouldn’t pull a head to fix a coolant leak? Did you look at the pics, stock valve seal material..... blue?
