Building a 4" Maf pipe setup and will need more space. Anyone using a spacer under plenum to raise 1/2" ?
Any negatives or suggestions? If using the spacer would you place the RJC plate above or below the spacer?
Anyone have a spacer they don't need?
Thanks as always for any replies..........

Not many people use spacers, mid 9 second cars with no spacer.o_O If you email Jason he will give you all the data you need, I just use his power plate. You might run into the up pipe rubbing the headliner:eek:

Thanks,
Doing a spacer for the space needed, not expecting any power + or- ?

Another thing to consider is that adding a spacer to the plenum could change the geometry of the throttle valve operation which could hurt your transmission. Not saying it will, it's just something you would need to account for after install and ensure you are getting correct line pressures in the transmission.

Put the PP under the spacer. That way the relantionship of the orifices will still be the same relative to the intake ports. I don't think you'll really gain that much room moving the plenum up 1/2" as the IAC plug will still be right there where the MAF pipe wants to be.

1/2" and 1" spacers are sold by Champion Racing Heads. They are a must if running a 4 inch MAF pipe. As for the power plate, it goes on top of the spacer. The piece your missing is the adapter to turn your IAC sensor on a 45 degree angle. It cannot stay straight because it will hit the pipe.
I ran a 1 inch spacer and Jason said put the plate on top. My billet throttlebody has the IAC machined at a 45 degree so I did not need the adapter.

I have a 4" maf with no spacer, just needed to get the IAC sensor adapter to turn it 45 degrees like coach mentioned

Thanks guys, as always good info and varying opinions!! I still am using stock turbo w/ 3" bell and in laying out the pipes it bumps the up pipe (3") from my larger slic. I felt the 1/2" rise would free up some slack in that area?
Also noted very tight around alternator bracket but should be manageable. I am building this with mandrel bent 4" alum. sections and will post pics when done! Thanks for the replies!!!!;)

Another option is using a PTE upper doghouse. It sits a litte higher and angles the TB slightly upwards versus the stocker. I use the PTE upper and it clears my RJC 4" int pipe.

I've got a 4 inch inlet on my turbo and my 3 1/2" MAF pipe clears. I did install an angle boss IAC adapter to gain a bit more room with the wires though.
