Is anyone doing anything in particular to protect their TR during this extreme cold snap coming through? Mine is garage kept, garage is not heated nor is it 100% sealed (some leaks at bottom of garage door and rear entrance door)...I still get concerned that when air temp is going to be -18 degrees like they have predicted for next week Wednesday that bad stuff may happen.

Start it and let it warm up fully each day. Even at -18, it'll take more than 24 hours for the coolant to reach ambient from 160.

I would just test your antifreeze and make sure it's good for them temps. Your garage is attached most likely so it will be warmer in the garage than it is outside. The super cold will only last a couple of days.

I did plan on picking up a new hydrometer today to test the coolant and I am going to throw some little heaters in there to do their best even though it's unlikely it will even change the temp in there more than 1 degree. Probably even get a cheap wall thermometer to record what the temp even gets to in the garage. Poor little baby. One day I'll have the garage these cars deserve.

-54!!!!!! I thought -22 was cold here Chicago. The worst part about this cold snap is when the temperature gets up to a balmy 15. We are so screwed up we think it’s warm.

its only 42 here

Make sure your antifreeze is at least 65% .This will avoid any freeze damage I've seen people forget and then it gets expensive

IMHO as long as your antifreeze is the correct mix, the cold will do nothing to our cars. In fact, starting it can cause more problems if you don't run it long enough. Plus, if you make your garage nice and cozy, you might find little critters will like it more. All I do for the winter months is run a small fan to circulate the air.

I just tested the coolant today after picking up a new hydrometer and it looks like a have a bit of draining/filling to do today. Only tested good to -10 and that’s cutting it too close even if the garage is 10 to 15 degrees warmer than outside. I’m guessing the current mix in there must be about a 70/30 mix of water/coolant.
