Poor quality video on YouTube on PS3

I just got a PS3. Go it hooked up. It is hard wired to my router and uses an HDMI cable on a new 1080i/1080p TV. We tried to watch a TV show on youtube. It is kinda choppy and really bad quality. She can watch the exact same show on her desktop in the next room. And her computer is on wireless. Also hooked up using a standard VGA cable. The quality is way better. What the hell am I doing wrong. All the video online looks crappy. The games look fine.

because its a ps3. Its made to be wireless, but when it comes to doing things that should be done on a PC (ie youtube) then the quality is gonna be choppy and blurry. you can try to see if you can find a better VGA cable as well.

The VGA cable is on the PC. The pc looks great. The ps3 looks like crap. All the other video looks great....like games. So would it perform better if I run it wireless?

it might help... i have wireless BTW though. its neat being able to surf the net. It also could be your TV as well. Mines only 480p

TV is a brand new LCD HD 1080. Have a HD cable subscription. Everything looks great. Sounds like the ps3 is garbage for online
video.

I DO however have netflix, and its crystal clear on the PS3.

"wireless as opposed to wired.... " doesnt make any sense... generally a wired connection would be preferable ..... double check all of your settings... do DVDs/Blu-Rays look okay???...my brother uses netflix on his PS3 on a HD TV.... i'll ask him....but he hasnt had any issues

Depends on the stream, it's really not PS3s fault because as someone said netflix with hdmi into an hdtv is perfect, youtube just sucks, it was never meant to be crystal clear.

I don't think anyway you configure the ps3 will make youtube look good, the ps3 browser is just crap.

Just be happy with netflix and everything else it does well and save youtube for the computer.

hahaha.... just RE-Read post.... you are comparing Apples to Oranges.... on one hand you have a MUCH Larger High-Definition screen... on the other hand you have a PC watching 72dpi YOUTUBE VIDEOs..... does youtube even offer HD???

if you are streaming HD from Blockbuster, Netflix or whatever - that was meant to be played on bigger screens and had issues i would worry but youtube videos..... i dont think they are the best quality to begin with....

...back to wireless vs wired..... I still think if You have the ability to run Wired DO IT!!! also HDMI is good no need to take 3 steps back to VGA

Why are you trying to watch a TV show on YouTube anyways? You can find HD TV all over the net. Download Bittorrent then go to www.eztv.it click on "show list".... this site has popular shows on TV, I get most of the stuff I miss on here. Its great if you watch Dexter, Weeds, Entourage etc... And dont have HBO or Showtime. Just make sure you DL the HD or 720p (larger file) version of the shows.

I have been doing some surfing. Looks like this is a known "common" problem. I found PS3 Youtube - Watch HD Youtube On PS3 - Gametrailers - Revision3. The quality is much better. I bookmarked it on my ps3. I keep getting a prompt about wanting to run a plug in. It always pops up. Don't know if there is an easier way to go straight to this site. Or if there is an XL version of it. I just found it. Will keep posting if I find better fixes for this problem. I know youtube is not the best but my wife likes to watch programs from here home country. Youtube is the best content so far.
