I have a set coming in. The issue is the block is a 1979 , So I have to make sure it will fit proper on that .

Plus those heads are 8445 and when the heads where ported that gasket was used when the valves where unshrouded. So I have to see if the gaskets 9441 will work.

The 9441 gasket came in ,But they will not work. Becasue of what is mentioned above. When I had the head's ported I had him use the gasket in the picture not the 9441.

The seal ring comes right to the edge of the combustion camber.

I dont have a ported set of heads here but Did go through my "used head gasket" set. The copper Clark gasket is the same ad the weak felpro, the 9441pt is smaller, the cometics I had on a .020 overbore motor was perfect in spots but bad in others. Look like you need to do some comparisons. It was a thread that listed all the gasket specs but I am having trouble finding it.

From the info i could find the 8723 head gaskets are not designed to be used in our turbo engines. Here is that info on head gaskets.

The 8723 was used in the earlier turbo engines 78 to 83 , Becasue I used them for the engines I had in the Olds .

But your right , that gasket should not be used for a turbo engine. But I had the heads ported un-shrouded to match that gasket , So for now I suck with it.

The next engine , Lesson learned and we move on.

I also noticed the deck height on the 8445 is lower than the heads that came with the "86" engine . The bolts are longer.

And thank you for the info, Next engine will be differant

Maybe you could o-ring the heads and run the copper gaskets. Don't feel locked in to the gaskets you ported them to. Other gaskets have a diameter that is similar to yours from the list I posted.

You are correct . But this engine will be replaced next season . I have the original 109 block , I'm going to get that rebuilt.

I really shouldn't complain , last time they let go was 5 years ago. With this engine I will keep the boost below ~ 22 #'s

I believe the damage came late last season , when the wastegate hose was broken and the boost went to 32 #'s , No knock but probity moved the head and gasket around.

Up and running until I discovered a exhaust leak where the turbo and header meet.

Thank God I did not see any other leaks , new gaskets coming from Jack and Maybe racing tomorrow night :D

I'll be waiting for that post that says, "Well crap....." LOL:biggrin:

Sorry Fred, but your luck isn't the greates lately. I wish you luck though.

Well, I asked the Good Lord to give me more patients (the older I get the less I have) , So the testing as really begun.

This was the one area I did not thoroughly scrub and a clean to make sure it was flat , Plus I think I put the copper lip wrong side up .

But Jack is sending down replacement parts today , Good lord willing we go racing tonight.

If not I will play with my Model Airplane and break that :D

Thank God , I did not see anything else leaking !

Glad to hear it Fred. If I'm lucky enough to get mine up and running I'll send you a note.:) Hopefully I won't blow mine up.
