Is Poston buick the only one making dash clusters for our cars? If so does anyone have it and how well does it work?

The ebay one is the one most cars have. I think Kenne Bell made one a while ago too. I would love to find a blank then use my own gauges. I think the pods are nice, but the GNX style dash is a much cleaner look. I think the guys at Caspers could come up with something to help the Homemade GNX dash idea...hint hint

Maybe i will be the first with the dash. Wife is getting it for me as a xmas gift.

guinea pig!!!

ok you be the lab rat for this test, hope it works out nicely for you. Congrats BTW for a wife getting you a nice xmas gift..maybe more of them should be on the forum and see such examples!!!!

Better hurry ! Cause I think he has only 1 left (called) & his supplier is nowhere to be found. :frown:

no worries

I just spoke to Tony over at postons, he is the guy building the dashes in house now, as their supplier???. So he says turnaround is about a day or two depending on what he has going on or if he has enough parts in stock. Said he usually can build 2 or 3 a day on the good days. Got me going for a sec though, had the old credit card out and ready if in fact they were going to be out of them..

I got my card out also, but i order mine.
still told the wife he only had 1.

Glad to hear that Tony is making them now. That's great news for guys trying to find a GNX style dash. When my buddy called he was told by Tony that he had 1 left. Either it was a sales strategy or it was the last 1 before his next run. His supplier was Tom Houser from GNXdash.com Now that he is gone, I guess Tony decided to "close" the gap. Are u stuck with 1 style dash only or any other stye available ?

I didn't talk to Tony, but the way the lady I ordered it from made it sound, it seems that you can order different gauges but all have the same layout.

guages

i asked tony about different guages in their dash layout, and seemed less than enthused about it. I would prefer something else as well, but he pointed out, they are a vdo dealer, and once they get into dealing with another vedor, then trying to get all the sending units and stuff figured out, plus wiring the non vdo guages, wasn't sure how much more he would charge. I even asked him if he would do the basic panel, with a harness connector, and the side idiot lights and leave the guages out, he was quick to say no to that. According to him, they have had very good success with the vdo's and have no reason to change now.

nice

so you got that one, congrats. lookd like the finish was more metallic than the postons dash, but all the same guages in it. How was the install as far as modding the dash and stuff?

No, I meant have an AVC same brand as that one and it was in the car when I got it. The finish on mine does not look metalic.

The first GNX dash Postons had for sale was full of autometer z-series gauges and had a silver backing. Now I see they offer a VDO filled dash. I wish they did let you pick your own gauges but understand that it could turn into a huge headache so they won't. I gotta have one though!

i agree

I have always been a fan of autometer, and with so many styles, I like having the choices. Wish someone would start making a nice blank piece and just do it yourself, Hint hint anyone!!! I would actually like either a carbon fiber look, or the anodized black would be nice too. Hardest part it looks like is redoing the idiot lights and getting everything onto the harness plug. I'm doing a Covan's guage panel kit for my 67 Camaro restomod project and it isn't so bad, long as you have the GM wiring diagram for which PIN connector goes where, and change out a couple sending units, your pretty much home from there.

I will do that and post picture of install after xmas . Wife won't let me see it till then:rolleyes:

Just to let you guy's know, I bought this dash around June of this year and my shop guy just called me, He has been trying to install this for hours, due to spacing problems and bevel's. He called Poston's and they stated they updated the kit for these problems about 2 months ago, so I dont know if this will solve the problem, but hopefully it will.

I do know for a fact though, the one I bought in June is going to cost me quite of few extra hours for the install:mad:

I will report back, once I drive the car with it.

Mark
