I replaced my pass side motor a year ago and its slower than it used to be. i found that the Window track and mechanisim is all shot to hell, that could be your problem. i know mine all the plastic bushings are shot and theres wabble all over the place. even with new motors if your mechanisim isnt tight youll lose much of the torque the motors produce to move the windows. Hope that helps.

Do the A1electric kits work with concert sound? I have a set of the older G-body motors/regs, but couldn't get them to fit with the concert sound door speakers...

I replaced both sides using the A1 motors on my last T-Type, It had concert sound, no problems besides it being a PITA....

Has anyone actually checked to see how much voltage is at the motor? How bout the switch itself? My windows in the we4 move if I'm lucky! Is there a relay or anything in the wiring besides the switch and motors? Yeah Eric I know what your saying about the quick windows. I remember my parents old riviera windows went up well, and the ones in the limited I just bought go up and down real nice-could use a light coat of thin grease though. Another thing I learned, don't use thick grease like wheel bearing grease:redface: stuff gets sticky in the winter. Thankfully I learned that on my camaro and not the buicks:wink:

wow, some good information here. do all buick owners have to have EVERYthing fast? lol. Even the windows? Wow, buick owners surely are OC about speed I guess. Myself included.

I don't consider 7 seconds to be slow, keeps dogs and kids heads and paws errr hands from being chopped off.

Obviously 30 seconds would be a major issue most likely voltage transfer and mechanism problems.

A good lube, and a resistance check of the factory switches and wiring is important after 20 years.

The factory switches are voltage reversal units, no relays, therefore both power and ground connections are extremely important and directly related to speed.

Another thing is always try to open and close them with the car running, the extra alternator voltage and current always helps.

Takes a bit longer with the car off to open and close them.

Maybe we need to start a window data base with modifications listed for speed so all combo.s. can have their "times" logged.

Or everyone could just add it to their sigs. :biggrin:

PS: A voltbooster like the Kenne Bell boost a pump would be ideal for faster windows I think 15-17 volts there would make most everyone happy.

A waterproof unit located in the door would be best, or else under the dash and unhook the feed from the bus there to the new voltbooster unit, Caspers could probably design and make one for $200-$250 in a kit form.

i really dont think the window motors are slow. i got one stock replacement for my drivers side window and that thing moves pretty quick. on the other hand my old tired passenger side is slow as hell and needs to be replaced.

Playing around with the import hybrids I have, with normal voltage they are about 4 seconds down and 6 seconds up. It didn't appear that they were any faster than the stockers I also tested. To bad these things aren't like ring and pinions where you can change the ratio. I have applied up to 15 volts directly to them and that was like 2 seconds down and 3 up but the stock regulator cant handle those speeds reliably. Plus its hard on the motors. I still dont have a price but will post it as soon as I can.

I tried that swap 10 years ago, with the older style G-body motors and regulators, and it didn't speed up the windows at all. Waste of time. Voltage is the culprit, not the motors.

question! If voltage is the culprit then why don't the windows get faster when we replace our battery and Alternator? so with 14v's of good voltage at the alt and good voltage at the battery why won't the windows get faster? I replaced both at the same time and it didn't make one bit of difference..

Because the voltage drop is in the wiring itself.....

As stated above, if your windows don't get faster with the car running or a voltbooster in action or the alternator putting out a good 14 volts then you have a wiring problem or two.

More voltage and current to the whole system should decrease the up/down times.

My 9 year old yellow top is way slower than my new one year old one without the cars running.

Mine are VERY slow. But when I rev my engine (sorta like you see hilo drivers rev their engines to make their forks move a tad quicker) my windows move faster, so it must be a function of electricity. That's my guess anyways.
