I've been given the run around for over a month by Precision Turbo, has anyone else had problems with them? I'll post more details tonight.

Ok, here's the deal I'm having with Precision. I placed an order on January 25th for a turbocharger rebuild kit - $137. After keeping an eye on the shipping status, I noticed the package had been lost so I called Precision. Precision told me to call Fedex and that they would handle the refund procedure. So, after talking to Fedex several times and getting the shaft from them, they inform me that the Sender needs to file the claim. So now, a month later, I still have no refund or rebuild kit. Precision said they "just got the paperwork" for the claim, but I told them they needed to file the claim 2 weeks ago. I would think that since it's their own damn fault for screwing up the shipping (they didn't give me an option for insurance either) that they should refund my credit card now and they can wait for the Fedex compensation. The lady in charger of their shipping department has been a deceitful pain in the ass, so I'd like to recover my money ASAP before they pull the crap Turbonetics pulled on me 4 years ago.

I know you guys deal with Precision regularly, so I'd really like to know if there's anything I can do besides calling my credit card company...

Sounds like FedEx might be the one that caused the delay,Figure you haggled with them for a few days, then a few days for turbo outfit to get paperwork processed.I feel your pain about charge and no item in hand to show for it.Whatever you do keep your cool, youll get better results,Try talking to customer services supervisor, you will get satisfaction.

Yeah, I've been trying to be as pleasant as possible, but the lady in shipping is a complete moron. I mean, why would she tell me to file the claim when she knew she had to file the claim in this situation? Turbonetics did something like this to me and eventually they said it had been too long since my order to do anything about it.... I'm tired of putting up with bad service from turbo vendors. Next time I'll deal with a diesel repair shop.

I plan on sending Precision an email in hopes somebody outside their shipping department can help me out. I really liked their sales/tech representatives, but if this is how they sort out problems, I'll go elsewhere next time. So much for dealing with a Garrett "master" distributor.

These places can have to best prices in the world but all it takes is pissing off a buyer by making him jump threw a bunch of legal hoops and word gets out, sure they arent responsible for losing item but should make a buyer happy no matter what. Its not your fault this happened. You can always call and dispute credit charge if all else fails. The internet can ruin a company almost overnight, its not fair yet they know it.

That's exactly why I started this thread, I know you guys do a lot of business with Precision turbo and wanted you to know how they are treating the "little guys". At the same time I was talking to ATP turbos and they actually resolved an issue I had with them in a matter of hours. One of their representatives improperly quoted a price on a dual ball bearing center section so they offered me an excellent price because of the error... about $500 less than what Precision quoted me for the exact same Garrett part. ATP was willing to lose $500 in profits to satisfy me, while Precision is acting this way

Killing one of the few buick vendors does us all no good,One employee having a bad day and taking it out on you isnt fair to you.Call again, talk to her/his supervisor, keep your cool, hope for the best.Tell em about your new found deal.Who knows at the least youll get your cash refunded. Then voice your experience. Most on here will jump your butt if vendor logs on and tells a different story. Its happened before.

I'd be happy if somebody from Precision logged in and read this! The guys over at Precision should know me by voice since I've had to call them at least 10 times in the last month regarding this issue. I'd be very happy if this ends peacefully, then you guys would know how great Precision could be. I was hoping to get some feeback from people with experience with turbo vendors in general since I'm 0-2 with Turbonetics and Precision.

Since they sold, I also heard that they haven't been the same...

Yeah, I had a problem right during the transition period. Turbonetics kept telling me my refund was waiting on so-and-so's desk, and then before I knew it they said they were under new managment and there was nothing they could do about it.

re: Precision

I'm confused...If Fed-Ex lost the order, then how is it Precisions fault? Precision has in the past gone WAY out of their way to make me happy.

And just for info I've had Fed-Ex lose a package of two GN wheels. After about a months time and me (the shipper) having had to make several phone calls and speaking with various supervisors and such, I was the one who had to request the forms and fill out the various paperwork before any such investigation took place. The results of which took another month and numerous additional phone calls before they decided to credit me for their mistake. On top of all of that, even though the package was never found, they said that I must have packaged it improperly for that to have happened.

As I recall, Fed-Ex wont even begin to investigate any such claim themselves until a particular amount of time elaspes (can't recall exactly what that is).

It sounds to me like Precision should start the claims process, as would any vendor, but that any hostility on your part should be directed towards the shipping company.

Fedex Ground Tariff

Hopefully Precision can work out a refund/replacement. If it was shipped using their Fexex account, and they filed a claim, they should resend the items (if you wish), because they will be getting the claim anyways. Sounds like an open and shut case.

I had window trim sent to a customer via UPS, and it arrived like a pretzel. UPS refunded me the cost of the parts in a very timely fashion.

If it was shipped Ground check their Ground Tariff for additional info.

Good luck.

i deal with the shipping companies all the time on claims if the pakage is lost its the shippers problem to do the claim and paper work and send out replacment parts to the customer.

on the other hand i just had my TE-44 rebuilt and upgraded to a TE-60 by limit engineering and JAY was a great guy to deal with he handled all of my questions and had a very fast turnaround. excellent service there and my bill was about $40 less than quoted. i highly recommend these guys!!!!

The reason I had hostility with Precision Turbo is because they told me to file the claim with Fedex, but then after dealing with Fedex for a while, they told me it's the shipper's duty to file the claim. After I called Precision again they finally admit that it's their job to file the claim.

The second reason I'm unhappy with their service is that they wouldn't send out a replacement part for me in advance. Just 2 days ago, March 22nd, they offered to send out a replacement part since they had received the refund from Fedex. Most other companies I have dealt with would gladly send out a replacement to their customer and wait for the refund so the customer isn't stranded without their parts.

I ended up calling Capital One, my credit card company, and they issued a full refund to my credit card, so I could stop worrying about this stupid ordeal. On top of everything, I received the parts today, 2 months late. I guess this rebuild kit is on the house!

Nice Job On The Second Time Back Thanks Precision??

Michigan state law - 1 year warrany on any auto part that is remanufacured ,reconditioned, rebuilt or factory repaired, and PRECESION has the same warranty. I had to pay twice in one year to get my turbo fixed right because after I got it back I had on going problems with car and the problems with my car that it took 24 weeks to realize the turbo has the same problems after the first repair. So I figured it would be fixed under warranty.HELL NO IT WAS MORE MONEY,but at least it was only half price GO FIGURE.HOW DO YOU LIKE ME NOW!! LIKE ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO THE END WITH UN PROFESSIONAL (BUSINESS AND LOOK UP THAT IN THE DICTIONARY). GOOD LUCK WITH PRESSION.

Many turbo builders will refuse to rebuild their turbos under warranty without charging the customer some amount of money to cover their expenses. Turbos Unleashed forced a customer to pay for the cost of parts 3 times and the owner still couldn't get the turbo to last more than 500 miles. The original turbo sent to them was in perfect working condition too, it was just sent in for a rebuild. From what I've heard, most turbo failures are caused by installation problems/oil contamination, but there are those cases where the builders just won't admit their fault. Each time I hear a story like that, I ask myself why more people don't rebuild their own turbochargers.

You could have used a credit card then dispute it with the credit card company, then im sure if they want your business -they will do something right away or go to a different vendor.

That's exactly what I ended up doing after Precision failed to help me. I never thought the credit card company would be able to help in a situation like this, but they credited my account in a very reasonable amount of time.

The hardest part of choosing a new vendor for turbo parts is many of them will not sell individual pieces (such as bearing kits). Luckily, I found a diesel shop on Ebay that can get any Garrett parts for me at a reasonable price.

I never thought I'd need to shop around between different *Garrett Master Vendors*, but it's amazing how different part/turbo quotes can be from one vendor to another. I don't mind bending over for smaller items, but when there is a $400 difference between two vendors for exactly the same center section assembly, a little research can go a long way.
