i am about to order a ta performance external gate down pipe and they said the down pipe can only use a tail waste gate. i was thinking about a precision. is there any difference to mounting them up? any problems w tail if i can't directly mount it up

I don't know what the Ta D/P you're buying comes with but the PTE W/G can be had with the two bolt flange as well as the Vband.

I'm guessing you're getting the Vband flange as it is the most popular but if there is another reason TA recommends a Tial gate as the only one I would like to know why.

Ta said it's what can be used on it. So I presume it's not a vband. If memory serves me right its the f38 wastegate. They said I could modify it to use another but not looking to do that. I guess tial is just as good gate as precision....

My gate is on the header, it came with the external gate provision. I have a PTE PW46. It came with both the two bolt and Vband flange.

My header has the two bolt so that's what I used instead of cutting the flange off and welding the Vband on, although it would be easy enough to do.

I have an internal gate D/P, I welded an adjustable rod to an external W/G bracket that holds the puck closed tight.

@psycho6cyl, I'm looking at getting the very same same down pipe. For me I just like the looks and the added control of an external gate. And I have came to the same two comparisons pte or tial. I hear really good things about the turbo smart tho.....

I've also read on here that the bigger the gate the easier it is to control boost, so I've had my eyes on that pte 66mm and I think tial has a 60mm out, both are massive. Too big? Idk, for my car right now yes. Down the road, I'll prob grab one of Bison's MFS turbos, so the added control of an bigger one may be needed. Over kill? Idk, but better?

Well with that pipe unless you cut and re weld it's only set up for the 2 bolt design. I think it's how serious racing it comes down to. Me I'm building this car w parts I always wanted on my old one but couldn't afford then. Very dangerous lol

Yea I would really rather have the V-band style my self. So that's what I'll prob do....

Tial makes PTE's wastegates for them so they are the same. I have PTE 39mm on my car and it works great but mine is set up off the header right before the turbo and exits into my old ATR v band downpipe.

once I get my motor finished up and the pipe in ill do a write up on it. Being it's a ta pipe I'm not really worried..
