does anyone know about what a vigilante converter costs from "quarter mile performance"(ls1 motorsports)? i just want a single disk lockup 300 stall converter for a 2004r. they were cllosed befor i had a chance to call them today, and i am impatiant ;) . i know that i can get the converter cheaper through them then through precision. i thought they were ~650, but im not sure, and i need to decide very quickly what converter to go with. i have heard many good things about this converter...

Depends on which lock up you want.
The 5 disc is about a grand. The single is probably around $700.
Difference is you can lock the 5 disc up under full throttle.
The single you cant (atleast PI wont warranty it you do) since their single cant handle it.
A 9x11 can and is about the same price as their single.
Larger lock up clutch, less weight and no rattle noise at idle.

PI convertors are the best for daily drivers/ racecar weekend warriors-

i currently have the 9-11 convertor in my silver limited and it spools up good, but weighs 36LBS i think they sell for around 650???
PI single weighs 32LBS
D5 weighs 46

my car will be a %100 daily driver. that meens ~300 miles a week. i will take it to the track every now and then, but im not going to be a serious racer. i had heard the the vigilante would probably be better for a daily driver.

dont the 9-11 converters have more stall the the vigilante?

i was also told that locking up the converter will usually only gain you about a .10. i think a single disk is all that i need, because i wont be locking it up. the only reason i would ever lock it up while racing would be if i was running like a 12.1x or something like that and just wanted to geta time slip. it will not be consistenly locked, if it ever does. if i need more speed, i will just give the rod a few more spins;) .

There's one in the Parts for Sale section. Smokinttype has it if it is still available.
