HOW DO I PRIME THE OIL PUMP? PUT THE MOTOR 2GETHER NOW HAVE NO PRESSURE WHEN STARTED BREIFLY (THANK GOODNESS FOR ASSEMBLY LUBE) BUT I AM LOST NOW! THANX jAY

If the motor is all together and in the car take apart the oil pump and use a good amount of vasoline reassemble the pump.
You might want to use another gauge right at the pump to check for pressure

Clarification needed;
1. How do you know there is no pressure?
2. Did you prime the pump through the cam sensor hole and got "no pressure"
or
3. Did you not prime the pump this way?

One way (GM way) is to disconnect the ECM and crank the engine till you get pressure on your gauge. Most would not recommend this method.

no, said they took it apart to do the heads. said they had a 12 sec car was looking for more so was going to do the heads. showed me several timeslips for high to mid 12's. block was bored 40 over and a good cam just needed to move some air & fuel. i bought a new pump set will try to change it this week and i bought a pump primer tool just to try it

You may be able to prime it by taking off the filter and putting a big piece of hose over the filter thread and pouring oil down it. I dont know if this will work for sure but its worth a try. Prime with the cam sensor removed and an electric drill. Never rely on the engine to prime itself. You could easily spin cam bearings if it doesnt prime.
