Went to pick up the car yesterday and went for a little test drive before paying. The shifts are nice and firm, but way too early. It shifts into second around 10-15 mph. It only stays in second for a half a second and then shifts to third. It stays in third to about 35-40 and hits O/D. It also will not kick down from 3rd to 2nd. It will kick down from 2nd to 1st and 4th to 3rd. Even under WOT it shifts way too early. The guy who built it had problems with the shift kit. It had no instructions since it was put in about 3 years ago. He also noticed the tranny only had 3 check balls instead of the normal 7. He said something about a hole being plugged with a rivet. I called and e-mailed PTS to fax the guy a copy of Bruce's shift kit but haven't heard back yet. The guy also, for some reason, added a spring to the governor. He was going by an old 200-4R book's diagrams. I told him to take it back out and make sure he put my governor back in. I told him it was orange and only had one spring in it. I let him know I do know a little something about these trannies. He told me it wasn't his first time building a 200-4R but I'm sure he hasn't built alot of GN trannies. If PTS hasn't faxed them the instructions by Monday morning he said he will remove the shift kit and do his own mods. I told him I just put a new shifter cable on right before he got it. He also said he has played with the t.v. cable to try and adjust shifts but couldn't make it work right. Any suggestions what is causing the early shifting?
