I just began removing my interior for an upgrade to basically everything. One of the seat mounting bolts is stuck and the bracket itself had already broken. Almost all of the studs have rust and I am afraid they will need to be replaced. What is the correct way to remove and replace the studs? Please refer to pics for visual............

Hello is there anybody out there?

Hey guys I really need some help with this interior restoration I am doing. Any suggestions on replacing broken studs would be greatly appreciated.

You're on you own on that. The way the factory did it was to press them in the floor reinforcement than weld those to the floor pan. If you look close there aint a way to sneak them in through the channel. I would soak them down with PB Blaster. Whatever you rig in there will be weaker than the originals. You dont want the seat to pull loose if you were to get in a wreck.

Very Nice!

I'd rather be tackling that than having to do fix a rotted out floor brace and body mount hole:rolleyes:
Check out what I have to deal with http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/sh...pair/230788-few-rust-holes-quarter-panel.html

Ah a project in the making. Looks like there will be some banged knuckles and curse words coming soon. I will be posting a full description of everything I have encountered in my current build soon. Lets just say those seat mounts are the least of my problems. I can't even imagine the seats going back in right now.

YUP. When I bought it I knew about the driver's floor being rotted but didn'te expect the body mount location to be crumbling:eek: . The only 2 spots on the bottom of the car with rust like that. The rest is either surface speckles around the rear suspension or the black paint is still in tact. These cars rust out in the weirdest places sometimes. Bad part is this car was a long hauler in the 02 power tour. Last owner must have had his way and then some with the car. Believe it or not there is a shine where original paint still lays, still has all 4 center caps, wheels are in good condition considering what the car has been through. Car was all stock except the flowmaster exhaust and drop in K&N. Missing the radio delete plate though:rolleyes: . Peeing myself with excitement knowing I gotta take the body off the frame. Oh well, just keep polishin the turd till its done:biggrin:

What exactly do you need, new seat tracks or is it the mounting studs on the floor that are rusted out. I got my old buckets sitting downstairs if you need seat tracks. They do have surface rust on them but they seem very solid still.

Please!

That is exactly what I need, managed to get the seats out without breaking any studs. Are they in good enough shape to POR 15 and use?

SO let me guess what happened...the area that sits on the floor where the stud goes through rusted apart and the frames pretty much disintegrated? They aren't going to be rust free but I'd say they're very usable beings they didn't fall apart in my hands:biggrin: , probably clean up good with a wire wheel. May not be a whole bolt in deal, might need some rollers or small items like that but will be about it. Maybe we can work out a trade.

Sounds Good
