Has anyone calculated slip on the L/U units?? I don't know that I want to run a N/L for my combo. I know how well the N/L's perform, but I was looking into one of their L/U's. I know a couple of you are running them do you have any input? Thanx in advance Jason

The reason I'm askig is because I have a good friend with a single disc vigilante for sale, or I can buy one of the Pat's converters from G-body that are on sale from g-body through the end of the month. What do you guys think??? I just want to buy it once and make the right decision the first time. What do you think the slip would be on all of these?? Thanx again

At your level you should be able to lock a single disk up in third gear for little or no slip at that point when racing.

My single disk Vigilante is around 9-10% slip unlocked.

A good used unit would be fine for your car, unless it was old (many miles) or locked at the line a lot and raced a lot then I would go new.

Assuming the stall is correct etc. as well.

Depends upon condition, price, and trust of information from your friend whether or not to go new or used.

I'd rather have the Vigilante it's a good converter.

Are you asking about PTC or Pats converters..?. they are two different companies.. Both are good converters in my opinion..

The PTCs are not meant to be locked up at WOT.
They are also designed to be efficient, so they don't have to be.
PM Dusty Bradford if you have specific questions.

I don't have any efficiency #'s for you. The 2 strongest cars these are in haven't had time to get some good info. One has been 11.0 at 124 on 23# of boost or so with a stock motor and ported heads. These are not to be locked but we don't depend on the lock-up to make them efficient. If they are better than 10% will depend on the power level you are at and at the time I can't give you a #. The vigilante's with what they call their turbo stator is the best performer they have when not locked. If it doesn't have the turbo stator I would not want it. If I had to lock one I'd want it to be as efficient as possible to take the load off the clutch.

I don't know Dusty. I think their, "turbo stator" is a little soft. Personally i don't know why they don't use the 082 with some "trimming".:D

I'm not familiar with the 082. I sent one back to them last year that was in another car and spoke with them about the stators. Seemed like nothing had changed since I ran their stuff 5 years ago. For my set-up we had a "0" pump and turbo stator and it was pretty efficient unlocked.

You should be my salesman, ive been trying to sell buttonfly a vigilante convertor for 2 months:eek: ( the one he speaks of)

I tried to sell him a turbo and convertor combo, at least i sold him a 6152 and he should have enough power to start breaking something other than head gaskets

Hey I still havn't decided what to use yet. Hope you had a good x-mas and have a great new year. I'll be talking with you soon:p

If you can get a ptc convertor that flat out works, write down the part number cause i will be ordering it from dusty too.

I hope you can get your car back together soon, get it ready for the shootout!
