200R4 transmission 9.5" size on both converters. Which is best or is it about the same...
The vigilante is about 50-100 bucks cheaper based on the prices I have gotten so far.

TE44 Turbo and stretch intercooler going in full weight 87 GN looking to run 11's this fall.

Thanks

I have heard really good things about PTC and the efficiency of them. I already have a Vigilante so all I can really say is that I am very pleased with mine and it has been in the car since before I have owned it (with one replacement). Going on 6 years now.

I love my 5 disc vigilante in stock motored cars. Times in sig. I have heard good things on PTC too. But never used one.

I have the Vigilante 5 disc lock up and it has been a great converter for my car. I have had it for 5 years and no problems with it. I have also heard the PTC non lockup converters work great also. I think either of them will work fine to go 11's. If you are going really quick, I would go with the non lock.

either converter will do the job in the 11's, but they will do it differently. The PTC will pull the engine down harder on the shifts and it will allow you to hold each gear to a much higher vehicle speed. The Vigilante will do the opposite, with very little RPM drop on each shift and lower vehicle speeds at each shift. When the lockup clutch is engaged it will pull the engine down really hard and it will go through the traps at a "real" 0% slip, whereas the PTC will have at least some slippage.

I prefer the PTC for a faster car, especially if the engine is done up with ported heads and a hotter cam. It does a good job of keeping the engine in the power band and I think it's easier on the driveline. The 5 disc lockup can really do a number on the transmission and it can also pull the engine down out of the ideal powerband when it engages the lockup clutch.

Either converter will need to be dialed in to your particular combo for best results, and you may need to make adjustments to your valvebody or governor to get the shift RPM's where you ultimately want them.

I just realized there are two PTC converters...
Pro Torque and Performance Torque...

The Performance 9.5 is 900 bucks and the Pro Torque is 700-800 for the 9.5...

Maybe the 9.5 is over kill for my car though...

I am looking at the Non Lock up converters btw..

Thanks
