Both 3 bolt housing. Looking at them both closely I can't see the PTE .63 being anymore restrictive than the T.82 Anyone tried them both with the same compressor wheel and cover? if so was there a noticeable difference in the two? These are "P" Trim turbines.
Thanks

dyno each with a backpressure reading higher backpressure would be the housing you dont use

I'd be more concerned about spoolup and intended hp. Those two will be almost identical on spoolup. Lower peak backpressure will spool slower. Less backpressure doesn't always mean more power either. Lower backpressure definitely means more room for more horsepower if you are going to run it harder. What I've found I'd that under 500whp on. 235ci or smaller engine the difference in peak power was negligible between using the following ex wheels/ housings: 69 trim, 76 trim, 65 trim, 63 trim ex wheels and .63 Garrett, .64 precision, .85 precision. Almost no difference in peak power between any combo I tested using various compressors and turbines. The Garrett did have excessive backpressure over 5400rpm. The boost pressure dropped 2 or more psi over 5400. The more rpm the more it dropped. The other housings did not drop boost as rpm climbed. Power was almost linear and equal on all of them. One thing for sure is that the Garrett housing equipped turbo spooled very fast. It was only slightly out done by the 6265bb with precision .63. On an engine that never sees over 5300 there I'd virtually nothing to be gained going larger than the Garrett .63.

i had the same results as bison.off the footbrake, the smaller ex housings have always et'd better in my car and when going to t.82 or pte .85 i lost et and mph.the t.82 did spool slower than the pte.63 on my old p-trim combo with a 10.5 inch converter.
