I had a PTE oil filter relocator installed last fall and I'm now going to change my oil. My question is what part number and what brand filter is best to use? I like Fram filters, so if there is a FRAM part number, please let me know what it is. Thanks! Paul

baldwin b279 is the only filter i would use on that, i have destroyed other filters on cold starts, make sur the filter has an internal bypass! I have put 4 quarts of oil down in 10 seconds its not nice to clean up!

I'm unfamiliar with a Baldwin filter. Where do you buy a Baldwin b279?
Thanks, Paul

You can use a Delco 1218,it fits a 98 Suburban Diesel. My PTE came with a Wix,same as a NAPA gold, can't remember the # but have them to look up for the Suburban.I've also used the Baldwin but it is hard to find and a little pricey. The easiest to locate that is the best in my opinion is the Purolator Pure One (think but not sure,#31061) for the Suburban about $5-$6 at Advance.K&N also at Advance that would be stronger but about $10.I've used all these and have never had one burst or leak. There is an oil filter comparison you can find by doing a search on this site,it'll make you think about the Frams.Hope all this helps.

Purolator # p30001. That's what I use. I've heard quite a few bad things about FRAM. If you like them, maybe you should look into it. Also, I'd been using the 30001 and they didn't have any at the parts store so I purchased the Delco 1218. I noticed after the oil change with the Delco, sometimes when I started the car I'd get a momentary bearing noise until the pressure came up. Changed oil again, thinking it may be because of the delco filter, and sure enough, no bearing noise on startup with the Purolator.

Oh my God! For once, I made a mistake. I got mixed up on the Purolator numbers I use for different applications. I'm surprised no one corrected me, even though everybody knows I'm never wrong. ;) The correct number Purolator number for use with turbo saver is L34631.
