Hello. First thread here. I am pulling a good running motor/trans from a GN this weekend. Any tips on how to do it so it can easily be transplanted into another vehicle?

Thank you

If you're transplanting it into another G body I'd get the entire wiring harness....even under the dash with fuse panel included. If not you can dissect the main ECM wires and the wires running under the master cylinder since those are mainly for the B+ power supplies, gauges, starter and TCC.

I don't know what I will put it in. I have been a Buick guy for like 18 years. I have had 2 69 GS's w/455's, a 455/Electra, an 84 GN, an 73 GS w/an Al headed 455, and now hot rod w/a TA, Al headed 430 wagon. I have always liked turbo 3.8's. This option fell in my lap. I want to have some fun with it.

Thanx for the time guys, every lil' tip will help me out.

Do not forget to remove the ground wires that are attached to the back of the passenger side head. I watched a guy pull an engine from his GN once and did not know they were back there. Needless to say he had to do some rewiring. Other than that it is fairly straight forward. Just take your time.

I would have the drivers side come out a little higher than the passenger side if there is a heaterbox/AC in the car... easy to crack them.

Same thing going into the other car...

P.S. what are you putting this in?

Thanx guys. I will watch the heater box, another great tip for a turbo buick newbie.

Probably going into another GN/T-type.
