Pure gasoline with no ethanol....good or bad?

Pure gasoline with no ethanol is good. Your gas mileage will be better with straight gas and if the octane is the same, there is no benefit to the gasohol.
Ethanol used to be a cheap way to increase octane because corn was cheap and it was subsidized by the government. No more.

Believe it or not, this is the only gas station (Amoco) I have found in town that still has a garage, still has the "ding ding" cord (I bet I'm really bringing back some memories for some of you) but yeah it's all self service these days.

Nothing but pure unadultered 93 down here in FL. The mid grade stuff is 10% ethanol. I haven't torn apart a turbo cylinder head in a long time so I dont know how clean the valves are. I just did the heads on the DD that runs the 87 non ethanol and the deposits were a little heavier than I expected. Now what I wouldn't give to have E85 down here. The last time I checked there were only 6 places in the entire state selling it.
Last week we had an article in the paper about the difference in pure gas vs E10 gas. This week someone wrote a letter to the editor about the article. To paraphase his letter, he said "that his 4 cyl truck got 32 mpg/hwy with the no ethanol gas and 29mpg on E10. So he could go 320miles on 10gals of gas or 319 miles on 11 gals of E10. So if he used the E10, his 11 gallons of fuel would be made of 1.1 gals of ethanol and 9.9 gallons of Gasoline, which doesn't do much to reduce the oil dependency".

Here in Canada they add MTBE to the Ethanol blend. Huge difference in 92 Ethanol compared to straight 92. You can run 3 psi more boost. I ran 12's@106mph with stock turbo, intercooler with straight 94 Ethanol blend. The milage thing is true but, hey.
