Sorry for the long story.....
I had a pump failure a few weeks ago. Before the failure, my transmission almost always barked the 1-2 shift, and was firm even if it didn't bark. When the pump failed, it pushed fluid thru the front seal and on the crossover pipe, therefore I knew immediately there was a problem. I shut it down and had it towed so I would not damage anything more.
I took the transmission to a local reputable shop and he replaced the pump with a new HD pump. He used the existing pressure control valve(s) and indicated that there were no signs that the rest required rebuild (clean fluid, no residue, etc ).
Now, the WOT 1-2 shift is REALLY sloppy. I have adjusted the TV cable and the part throttle shifts are firm. I can get it to bark 1-2 at 1/2 throttle, but at WOT I can feel it slowly engaging. I also used type F fluid this time thinking it might firm things up a little. I called him up and he said there is no explanation why it shifts differently and I agree.
As far as I know, it's all stock. Should I just put in a shift kit and be done with it? What else is there to do? Basically speaking, everything runs perfect except for the WOT shift.
TIA.
