Im looking for a 200R4 that can handle a 650 hp GN. I do little track time and mostly just for a fun street car. However someday I could be doing more track time and need a strong tranny.

I have already been thru two over the years and am very dissapointed. My stories are not much different then some I have read. One tranny got about 2000 miles and a couple runs and he other did not do any better.
These were supposed to be the best of the best, all the billet goodies, etc. Embarrassed to say the money I have spent on R&R, replacing burnt clutches.. ETC.

Not sure who is even doing these anymore? Just looking for a reference from someone who has had good luck and can recommend a proven builder who can deliver.

thanks,

Dennis

In the spring I was looking for a tranny that would handle the same HP you have. Talked to everyone - read everything. Went to the Transmission Forum on this site and read back 3-4 years. Bottom line - you will hear people swear by so and so. I came to the conclusion that everyone named has indeed built some good transmissions. Also I found complaints about every single transmission builder. I guess you have to take your chances. I did order one in mid-May, I have not seen it yet - been paid in full since May. I call every few weeks -" it will be shipped in a couple days". After 3 months I have not seen anything yet. I will call again this morning. This has been my expeirence so far. Hope yours is better.

I guess to sum it up - anyone you hear about on this site is capable of building you the best transmission you ever had - or not. Good Luck.

None are perfect for me it boiled down to customer service. Used a few builders on the boards and been screwed by a few. Lonnie Diers and Jason White are my choices

i agree, they are both excellent choices

Don Wang, at DRW trans , in Santee ,CA, has customer service beyond expectation.
plus he will talk to you like a friend, and explain why and why not,
he's the "mad Scientest" on here ,

I believe that the 2004r was conceived by the devil & his disciples are the builders that I have tried over the last 25 years.

Dave Splett builds 200-4R's that live in full weight 9.70 cars. He is in Lynnwood, Washington. (425) 774-4966 Nicest guy you'll ever meet.

to be fair, i actually did have a problem with the first trans from Chris. He built another, drove it out to me and installed it...if that's not customer service, i don't know what is....

He's one of the mad scientists on the board.:D There's more than one after all.:p

It sounds to me like it comes down to who can deliver would be the 1st thing to look at.

Thanks all for the input and Ill defiantly share my experience good or bad.
