Question about factory steering shaft

im in the middle of replacing my factory steering shaft with a jeep steering shaft. Is the factory shaft supposed to be collapsible similar to the jeep shaft? I can't collapse it to retract it from the splines, I think because of road grime and rust. . I sprayed what I think is the seam with pb just making sure I'm on the right track.

it is collapsable just like the jeep shaft
easier removal if it wont is just cut it
