Im sure I was like most watching re-runs of Pinks yesterday and I believe I saw two guys creep thru and lose races because of what was described by them as trans brake failures. Im itching to put one in my car but was wondering how reliable these brakes really are. Jimmy in Mundelien will be doing mine so I know it will be done correctly, I was just looking for some thoughts on the matter. Thanx.

The problem seems to be with the way they are activated. One dude was using a button and not sure about the other....I think he had his on a delay and forgot to reset the delay for heads up.

The problem I was having is that I "thought" I was in t-brake when I was actually in second. Then when I could activate the brake, the only way I knew was that the revs would come up without the car loading up.

My brake has never failed, it was purely the operators fault.

I had a brake on my 400 before. I didnt really have a creeping through when it was set. However I have seen some(including mine) that did not engage when the button was activated causing the car to still creep forward. That may have been what you saw happen. Watch the vid link on board member spot my 6's post. He has a gn with a 200 and a brake. Watch the movements of the car and listen to the motor.

trans brake

Stage right is the one that the car usually rolls a little forward when it's engaged. Seen a few red lights from this.

I had to figure that out the hard way. It will creep a little like you say. So you stage just like you do if using the foot brake and then throw it down into D1. Light goes green, lift your foot at the same time you throw the selector into D3....and it is instantaneous. Once you figure it out, it's just about the most fun you can have in the car with your clothes on.

Mine was fine 98% of the time. I wish i still had it. Is this a common problem with the stageright?

It can be with low line pressure.Slight roolout is normal. But if it is excessive, there are other factors involved. (see below)

It is recommended to use a minimum of a 500 and 296 booster valves for best results and less creep.
A 550 (or 570) and a 400 will work best with a brake and high HP.
