I will be reciving a trans from extreme automatics soon i was just woundring if there is any tips that all of you nolagable turbo buick guys have Thanks

I start with throttle cable end off of throttle linkage. Lift car and remove driveshaft "support" and shaft, I have an extra yoke that I use as a plug in it's place. Remove crossmember bolts and mount nut and bolts. Shifter linkage and cable. Lockup wiring. Torque converter bolts. Lower down a bit and remove bolt for Throttle valve cable housing. Take tv cable and lines loose and I have all sorts of plugs so I don't have leaks all over the place. Then bellhousing bolts and drop out slowly so as not to hang up on the shifter cable and snap the end off.

Before going back in with new one, ALWAYS flush lines out good. I made a flusher out of a high pressure fuel pump and a 5 gallon bucket before I bought one. You can use denatured alcohol to flush with. We have a guy at work who flushes with new trans fluid and all his R&R jobs come back. Use a good cleaning solvent and make sure your cooler flows around 3 quarts a minute. Back flush the opposite direction so as to get all out that you can that tries to get packed into the cooler.

I would guess you will do this in your paved or concrete driveway or in a garage on your back. If not this might not apply. I did it more then a few times with a floor jack and a 2x6 under the pan. I managed to save up the money to get a trans jack from northern tool. Best money I spent in a while. I never 'stabbed' one easier. Much safer too as the trans is held on a big flat square. I highly recommend getting one. It was great for dropping the gas tank too.

Thanks for the advice my trans should be here some time next week it doesn't sound like that hard of a project about how long do you think it will take me?

I have a lift at home so with flushing lines for 30 minutes it takes less than an hour. On the ground with a floor trans jack, it takes a little longer from having to crawl around the jack to get from one side to the other. Plus you have to get the car high enough to get jack and trans out from underneath. I used to just use a jack like Texas T and I would slide the trans off the jack and when it came time to put new trans in, I would tilt it forward towards the bellhousing and slide the jack under it and hold the jack still with my leg and draw the trans up onto the jack, then put the torque converter into the pump and then attach to the engine.
