Racers - Heater Question Please

Gents,

I've removed the heater pipes and hoses from my car. I use a 5/8" ID cap on the water pump connection. The cap is a MOTORMITE/HELP type cap, similar to the one you get to block off the stock turbo bell crankcase vent connection. Is there something a little longer and of a better material? These caps are a little short and aren't holding up for me, not even the EPDM ones.

I used to have the same problem.....

I finally took my waterpump off and drilled and tapped the connection for either a 3/8 or 1/2 brass pipe plug. This has lasted for over a year now...The next time I have it off I'm going to gut it off and have it welded up.
