Raleigh NC. Car shows, racing ?

There are only a few buick owners in town and they are kind of spread out. Chargrille and Grille 57 are a couple of places to see local cars. My buick has been off the road for awhile. I bought it with a blown motor and ran a NA motor in it for awhile until it blew up.

That will be awsome to get your car here I bet. What kind of shape are your cars in? Whats been done with the nova? When are you going to have them shipped?

I can't recall the name of there subdivision. We do drive past some apartments on the main road into there subdivisions. It sounds like the style of the homes though.

How long have you lived here in the area? Do you and your wife have any kids?

I'll have to check out those cruise-ins this year.

As far as our cars, the TTA is close to stock, 59,000 miles. It has ran 13.0@104 mph. The Nova is in rough shape. I have had it since it was 14, it has been painted twice. I tore it down a few years ago to re-do it a third time, and realized that I didn't have the money or time to do it the way I wanted to, so it has been sitting in primer ever since. It has a mild small block in it...it is really nothing fancy. I am hoping to give it the pro-touring treatment once I get it out here. I'm going to try to ship them here in May or June of this year. My wife and I moved here last July. We do not have any kids.

Here is a pic of our TTA:

TTA at track

Your TTA looks killer. Late spring or early summer would be a good time to have them shipped so you would miss all the lousy weather. Have you found a church in the area? Why don't you email me directly so we aren't hijacking twins thread.

Hey Fasstcars, we are not too far from one another. I live close to the intersection of Durant and Falls of Neuse right now, but my wife and I are closing on a house at the end of March. We decided to buy a home near Youngsville/Wake Forest.

Twinvipers, just FYI, we picked the Youngsville/Wake Forest area to buy a house because it is a little more private (1 acre wooded lot...lots of room between neighbors) and it seemed like we got a little more house for the money.

Looks like I'll be buying a small house to live in for a few months(not too worried where it will be). I'll then have some time to get familiarized(???) with the area to make a better decision.
I'll check that area also. I really want a great neigborhood for my kids to grow up in(I have 20 month old twins). This is one of the main reasons for moving out of N.Y. Looking for a neigborhood that has a recreation area(pool, playground and activites)for them. I was looking at Brier Creek for this reason(and the golf doesn't hurt). If you guys know of an area like it somewhere else, I will check it out when I come down. More property would be nice also. I can live without the Golf Course, I'm sure there are plenty around(P.S. I suck at it, but love it). Just started playing this year.
Again, thanks for all the help...

I would definately check out the area were I live like I said. There are parks and good schools close by. Easy access to everything else. Since the area is just starting to take off you can still get a house with land or move into a subdivision if you want. Plenty of choices. We have 3 kids and that was our reason for moving here from Fla. Educational system down there was terrible. Nothing to do for the kids locally either. NC is a great place to have kids and to grow up. I think anyway. I don't know to much about the location of the golf courses in the area but Raleigh is well laid out. So getting around won't be a problem. Brier Creek is close to 540 if I remember correctly. There also golf courses towards Cary....Preston, McGregor, and Lochmere. There is another big course towards Garner off of Tryon as well but I can't remember the name.

Let me know when you get down here and I'll set up some tee times, been looking for another duffer who is as bad as me.

Sounds good to me. I'll let you know how I make out in 2 weeks. Hopefully I'll buy something when I'm there.

Do you know any places that have nice, clean, safe warehouse space for rent that I can also get my dealers license from ?

Soon you guys will need to start charging me for all this info :)

I think you also need to have a lot that will hold at least 25 cars to get a dealers liscense.

I'm not really sure other than the track were you can get it. I know they will deliver to your house though if you buy a 55 gallon drum.

Any places to get Cam2 in the Raleigh area ?
Not Cam 2 but at Wake County Speedway they have Sunoco race gas.

Richie aka TurboKid lives just South of Garner and Jay Carter is down in this area. Richie has a repair shop that specializes in Turbo Buicks. He has been the Outlaw 10.5 class champ several times with his single turbo Buick. Best of my memory 5.ox in an 1/8 mile.

Eagle Ridge is a Golf Club community just off of Old Stage Road.
If you don't have a realtor yet, Steve Gooding is an old turbo Buick mechanic/racer, that is a great friend & realtor. 919-524-9848.

There are 20 to 30 turbo Buicks in this area, the hard part is getting everyone together. Everyone has some many things going on, with their kids/family/etc. that finding a common time to get together is difficult.

Been in the area over 10 years now and still liking it.

Gary aka Black Car

race gas

I will start carying Torco race3 fuel in feb. so if you need anythin call

I'm going Wednesday. Can't wait.

Off the topic, is there Gambling in N.C. ?

In the Cherokee nation up in the mountains harrah's has a casino there. Nowhere near the size of say Foxwoods but not too shabby. Other than that, we did just get the lottery passed, but God knows when it'll be up and running.

Scratch off's within a couple weeks. I don't remember when the lotto actually starts.

Just got back from N.C.

Looks like I will be going to one of 3 places
Brier Creek
Preston or Weston.

I like Brier Creek for the kids and golf. Seems like a great place for them to grow up in.

The only other place I didn't get to see was the Governors Club(next trip).

If you like the Cary area you should check out McGregor and Lochmere as well. Other wise the others you looked at are nice places. Although I like Preston they have over commercialized the name. Cary also has a nice greenway and park system. You also may want to check out Wakefield in Raleigh as well.

I will definitely check out those other places in the next few weeks.
