I'd like your honest assessment as to a realistic salvage value on my stripped GN. The G80 8.5" rear has been taken along with the entire drivetrain. All pertinent electrical equipment including relays, harness, cruise control equipment are gone. Every stitch of interior save for the dash was taken and the dash was absolutely annihilated. Also note that the inner metal fender supports are folded down on both sides.

I'll let folks weigh in for a while and then I'll come back and tell "the rest of the story" as Paul Harvey would say. Thanks!

I hope the rest of the story is that they got the 'tards and they are currently rotting under the jail until years after their houses are sold and you are fully repaid.
That hurts my heart.
If the frame is straight and the remaining panels and bumper are good then it might be worth $500 if someone needed the parts. As a car it would be much cheaper to buy one than fix this one unless you're using it as the base of a drag only car.

I ve been following your story since your car was stolen and cant fathom what I would have done if that was my car, I m sorry for the loss of your car but also have been ambitious as to what the outcome would be as a few of us are waiting for an update. Hopefully justice will be served and things will go well for you in. Good Luck and give us the update.

if it's rust free and straight someone could rebuild it .. I know you would have a ton of $$ into it BUT they could use it as a project car .. hmmm ins co own it now ??? salvage title ??

stering wheel plus column= 150
posi rear= 400
t wheels= 150
misc= 150

500$ is my vote, but it might not be worth the trouble to make a couple hundred $..

The posi is gone. No G80, he already mentioned that. But the steering wheel and some other stuff might be worth it. You never know, someone may need the glass, or the gas pedals or something stupid. From my bros totaled Monte SS, he sold the tach that was perfect from the wreck for 60 bucks (or so) on ebay this week.

You never know what people need sometimes.

"No G80, he already mentioned that." missed that, still worth 500$ IMO...

I voted $500 too. It might not be worth $500 to most people, but if you look hard enough you can come with at least $500 worth of parts on there. Of course, getting it for $250 would be even better.....

Jim

Yeah, you could probably come up with A few hundred dollars worth of parts, but would it be worth the effort, aside from yanking the wheels and steering wheel? I'd say no. The only thing that I see that being good for is if someone has a complete, or maybe wrecked TurboRegal, and want to rebuild one, then they would at least have a correct VIN, although it would be a salvage title. Other wise, I don't think that it is worth it. Unfortunately.

I really don't see anything useable at all. I don't believe I would even crawl around that for 250$ worth of stuff.......or maybe 250$ worth of beer to help lick your wounds with...........I'm interested to hear the rest of the story, good luck to you in whatever you decide to do.

I'll tell you what I see, rust free parts. At least it looks to be rust free. I voted $500 but under the right circumstances it could be worth $750 to $1000. The right circumstances would be that the floors, quarters, and frame are straight and have absolutely no rust, and the original VIN is untouched and you miraculously get it back without a salvage title, though it will always be on carfax. If the title is clean it would make sense for a person with more time than money to find a rusted or hit from rear T or GN and fix this car rather than welding in the bodywork on another. After all, no matter what it looks like this is still a real GN. Rust free G bodies are getting rarer by the day. Hope they shot the bastards. Mine was sold new in TN and had a column guard and kill switch installed before it came here. Apparently GN theft there was popular back in 87 as well.

Most of the votes are for $500 or less.......

What's the rest of the story?

OK. This is a long story and it's not over yet but I'll provide the Cliff Notes here. I had an actual cash value policy for $13,000 with Nationwide. About a week after the car was recovered they came back and offered me $7250 after they pointed to their fine print that gives them the right to depreciate. I refused so they hired the services of Stated Value Automobile Appraisal Company out of Fort Worth, TX.

These folks dilly dally for the better part of a month and after reviewing materials & photos I submitted and going through an extensive phone conversation they returned the following assesment in their report last Friday:

Actual cash value: $8500 + tax, tag, lic.
Salvage value: $2500

That's right folks! That pile of chicken bones we've been discussing has been professionally assessed at $2500!

So, if I want the car back it's $8500-$2500-$250 (deductible) = $5750. If I let them keep the car it's $8500+$675 (TTL)-$250 (deductible) = $8925

Brilliant. That Stated Value company looses all credibility with me when I see that garbage. As if the salvage value isn't insulting enough, look where the settlement offer falls in a price guide matrix based on information supplied by Stated Value Company. An impeccably clean GN, with tasteful mods and numerous car show plaques is deemed only Fair condition by Nationwide and their 'unbiased' hired experts. What a crock of ....!

This is a typical Insurance Co. rip off. What a crock ,Its bad enough to go throu hell and back but have to deal with The head in the A$$ Ins. Co. I switched Ins. to a collector car Co. awhile back and insured my car for $15,000 but now Im gonna have to read the fine print and cover my butt. Im sorry about this kinda crap your going throu but hopefully we can all learn from this disaster.

How did the car get 84 wheels on it??? I just wonder if there are people on this web site pulling this BULL$hit? They would almost have to be, how else do you know what parts are valuable? Have you kept your eyes peeled for parts listed on E-bay and on our TB websites? Did they catch the MOTHER FUC#Ers that did it?

that sucks

Sorry about your sh!t your dealing with. I would had to go through that type of mess.

This is proof that there is a difference between agreed value and stated (actual cash) value. If you keep after them they will eventually up their offer because it costs them money the more they have to deal with you. There is no way in hell that car is currently worth $2500. $1000 maybe. If you search here there are many posts related to people dealing with insurance cos. after an accident or theft. Some are successful in getting their asking price but none will ever get it on the first try. Most people say you should get after the for sale ads and autotrader etc. and find as many cars as you can similar to yours, then send them all the info you've collected. You may have to compromise a bit and give them your bottom dollar, for example tell them you'll take a check for $10k and you keep the car. It sucks that they tried to beat you down from a stated value by that much, but nearly no one actually gets their stated value. I wish you the best of luck. Don't give up 'till you get what you want.

True agreed value is only offered through companies like grundy and you have to abide by their rules to get it. Trust me it sucks with agreed value too because if you arent on your way to or from a car show you are always wondering "if I hit a deer with this thing on a random sunday out will it be covered?" Sunday drives are a gray area with all of the specialty companies, I've done the research. Think of it as part time car insurance. Anyway, good luck.
