I have a little more oil leaking out the back of my tranny than I'm happy with. I was told it's easy to change the rear seal with no disassembly. Can anyone tell me of their experience with this? Any suggested sources for a seal? Canada if possible.

Actually, if you still have the 200R4, it's pretty darn difficult! If you take a look, you'll notice there is no separate tailhousing. The shop manual shows transmission removal and complete disassembly is required to renew the rear seal. BUT! Someone (don't recall who) makes a tool that can do it - seems like around $150.

Take your time and it can be done without special tools or transmission removal. Just remove the driveshaft. Use a hammer and small chisel/screwdriver to slowly collapse the seal flange until you can pry it out of the case bore. Evenly, tap the new one into place.

Thanks Greg - that's what I was looking for. I think I'll stop at GM and order the seal in and give that a try.
