Recommendations on what oil to use

I just recently purchased a Grand National and I was curious what kind of engine oil everybody recommends for these engines.

There are hundreds of threads on this topic, but I use Valvoline VR1 on my stock flat tappet cam engine.

I run what ever is on sale Castrol or Pennzoil in 5 or 10/30 along with a Zddp. And I change by smell, not miles or time.

That purple stuff is real purdy when it leaks!

Especially when it lands in a puddle.

I prefer to describe it as a "spot", compared to a "leak"' sir ...... Dang PCV valve doesn't like boost. And yes, I bought a check valve....... And no, I haven't installed it yet (aka - LAZY) ............

Here we go again!

About 3 months ago a local GNX owner brought in his 7k mile car as a shop told him he needed a rear main seal which was leaking.

I saved him about $300 by dumping the Mobil I, and replaced it with Valvoline VR-1, only other item changed was the oil filter.

The leak was gone after a short road test.
