I have always been a fan of red line tires on muscle cars. I have been thinking about getting a set for the GN to be different. What do you guys think? Please don't flame if you don't like it just be honest with your opinions. I have never seen a GN with red lines. Has any one else? The car fits the "muscle" class so I think they would be acceptable even with the stock wheel.

Tires are the last thing I would buy based on appearance. Redline tire technology stopped around 1983 (along with whitewall tires).

The latest Redline tires offered for Muscle cars are 35 Year old tire designs. No thanks.

Maybe with a stock rim.

That wheel in the pictures are brutal. I think the chrome of a stock wheel may set set off the red. Why not give it a try, its only money and we all have spent too much already on these cars.

Personally I hated the redline since their inception. By the same token I've always loved white walls....even the phony ones put on over black wall tires and held in place by the wheel itself. (Young'uns won't remember these.)

Not crazy about it. But hey, I used to get hate emails when I put TT2 wheels on my GN many years ago, now everyone has them.

Sorry I should have cleared that up. The picture I posted was an example of the tire. I have no plans of using those wheels. I want to put them on the stock wheels. The chop pic on the stockers did not look to bad in my book  It's different... Mark, good point with the TT2's! You never know ;)

Hm... I don't think it would look right. The GN is all about lack of colors, it would be strange to see a car that's black/black/black and then have a red stripe on the tires. But as others have said, if you want to do it, there's no harm in trying it out.

I know...opinions are like strings, every yo-yo has one, but .....I hate it.

I'm with you 10000%

I say the same thing to people wanting raised white letter tires.

The only thing tires tell me when they have a line, raised white letters, white walls.. is that your car is slow.

They look awful! Maybe on a Model T Ford but certainly not a TR.

I don't care for the redline tires on a GN. I don't like a red pin stripe on one either. There is really nothing red on the car that you are trying to accent. Just my .02.

Let me amend by statement. The only Redlines available are 35 year old designs OR Recapped used tires that I wouldn't go over 100 mph on.

My Previous statement that tires are the last thing I would buy based on appearance still stands.

I've had a set of radial recaps from South Carolina. My car hopped up and down through the traps so bad that I picked up 6 mph in trap speed when I switched to REAL drag radials. Recaps are like a box of chocolates....

Redlines

Mr. Armstrong Nice site it's good to see that there are other options out there. That you can get an old redline tire with modern technology and radial design.

Ponykillr if you like the way it looks just do it, looks good. Get the 60 series Redlines radials that are made by Yokahama . 275/60/15's in the back . Fbodylovr posted a pic of GN on airbags the car is slammed the car looks KNARLY and alot of people knocked it. It won't hook it's too low. Yeah it was different but one good lookin ride. jdpolzin writes in that thread it gets pretty old lookin at all the Buicks with Prostars or Convo pros's etc. jacked up in the rear skinnies up front , he goes on and says it's one of the best lookin GN's he's ever seen. I have to agree with him. Heck man dare to be different these cars don't have to be a Clone. Look at RUQWIKNUF27 he didn't follow the crowd as far as what wheels/tires are allowed. He has a ride with his own signature/look.
