I wanted to know if anyone uses an electric pump to remove internal pressure from our cars. I currently use 2 breather caps and no PCV valve. Has anyone tried an electric pump for this purpose? Thanks!! :)

oh, I think so:)

just not talked about so much, but most fast cars have something going to get a vacuum in the block

Any idea what type of pumps are being used. I heard one that is off a Cadillac and also using a hobbs switch with it. Any other ideas??

oh, there are several you can use....LT-1, LS-1, old Cads, Ferd

hobbs switch not necessary if for track use

you can spend whatever you want (need a catch can and some way to determine how much vacuum you are pulling)

it is worth some HP

(you are disclosing dirty little secrets here.....)

I've tried an LT1 a.i.r. pump, and it moved alot of volume and about 4in vacuum. Running continuously was burning up 30 amp fuses, than finally the motor.

It might work well if activated by a hobbs switch.

I also have a cadillac vacuum pump, and while it will pull alot of vacuum, it doesn't move alot of volume, and it's a bit noisy.

I saw a picture of an electric vacuum pump that Mr Gasket was supposedly making in a magazine about a year ago. Havn't seen/heard anything since.

What year was that Cadillac vacuum pump. Do you have a part #?? Thanks!!:)

Okay, the part number on the pump is-

5048967

Under that number is-

180 9 011 (not sure if those #'s have any meaning)

Hey Thanks Alot!!! Do you have to buy it at the dealer or a parts store? Thanks again!!:D

No problem :)

The one I bought was directly from GM, but local parts stores may be able to cross reference the #.
