I will be getting a new downpipe with the integrated elbow from Brian at G Body. Has anyone been able to remove the stock downpipe in one piece? Do you need to remove the passenger side header or disconnect the passenger side engine mount and jack up the motor? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Frank.:):)

Kind of agree here. If you don't plan on using it again I'd just cut it and remove it. Also if you haven't replaced the body bushings you may have some issues getting the new on back in. Ask me how I found this out and I'll give you an ear full, believe me.:frown:

I don't remember body bushing being an issue, but new motor mounts help with some clearances.

Well, I removed the passanger side stock exhaust header, it took some twisting and moving around while twisting and moving the down pipe. Once the header was out, I moved the air conditioning unit up out of the way and with some more patience, I was able to get the down pipe out. Boy, not alot of room for the new larger down pipe to fit in. I hope a lot of care was put into getting all of the bends and lengths correct. Thanks for the replies! maybe this will help the next member, because I think Brian just sold a bunch of these.

Yep, drop the header & C/O, looosen the AC compressor,
out it comes. The 2 GBodyParts D/P's I put on my cars did
not go on easily. I modified the heat shield on 1 and machined
the D/P flange down ~.200" on the other.

i have one on its way

I ordered mine last week . it should be here for the weekend. How is the install going? Any further fitment issues to look for?

I was dead set on removing mine in once piece and would never (EVER) do it again. If I had to do it all over again I would just cut it. If you really want a stock Hot-Air downpipe I am sure a board member would be willing to sell you one at a great price.

i remember dropping my down pipe from underneath with the front wheel off somehow... dont ask how, it was 4 years ago and I dont remember the specifics, but the AC was still in place... lol
