I am planing on pulling my motor to replace my blown head gasket an rod /main bearings. also replace timing chain . the motor has 80000 miles any other parts yall suggest to replace, lifters , oil pump , push rods ext.... When going this far do yall think I should go ahead and completely rebuild it or keep stock pistons and rings. compression was good before I blew my HG. Also is it better to buy a kit from a place like postons or buy them seperate. sorry about the run on questions thanks for any replys

Thrust bearing

not to change the focus of this thread but what symptoms do a bad thrust bearing cause? My oil pressure drops when my TC locks. Weird thing is I locked and unlocked it manually and it went away. I am pulling the pan to do the rod bearings. What should thrust be? If it is screwed, I am screwed.

If the bores are in good shape go ahead & just hone the cylinders and reuse the stock pistons (really should go with new rings though) they work VERY good so why mess with a good thing right? Are you looking for a stock rebuild or want to step it up a bit?

Thanks for the replys ......When pulling this motor is it better to leave the turbo on pull it off . any other hints that would make pulling a 3.8 would be great
