RJC knock-off intercoolers. Anyone using them?

Been selling them for a while now and not going to get into the "knock off" part of this thread. They fit great and price is right. Running the biggest one on my own GN. Here is a pic of it in my car. Just took off the header panel, hood, bumpers for paint and you can see how nice it fits.

Mike at FT started selling them after I did and he will vouche for them as well.

How close do the pipes fit to the bottom of the radiator support?

The solenoid is.. its nothing special. Same one we use for the ISAC's boost controller.
 
It's pretty funny after all these years, we have various intercoolers out there that bolt between the grille and the radiator and try to fill up as much of this space as possible, but yet some feel they hold the patent on this. The V1 really was the 1st to do this well, then Jack Cotton made his famous front mount intercooler when you couldn't get stuff from Dequick. He pretty much copied Tonys setup (pipes even fit between the two) but used Bar and Plate cores which in hindsight were not even close to Tonys tube/fin cores he used as far as efficiency. Jason then decided it was a good idea to capitalize on the business and make a more efficient intercooler than Jacks was, as there was a need for a better front mount (production style) then others decided to try things on their own. Now days it's almost expected that there will be copycats out there, just a matter when.

Jason copied the ESP girdle which was out way before most even knew who Jason was. Jason made it better and people are happy with it. Same goes for everything else. Make a good product, and keep making it better, if somebody copies it then keep one step over the competition. In the end the consumer wins because they keep having better options to buy.
 
I mess with vintage BMX bikes, and over the last few years there has been a big retro movement, pretty much new technology that looks like old stuff. Hutch was one of the most copied brands from back in the day. Last year a guy in Wisconsin bought the rights to Hutch and has sent cease and desist letters to everyone who makes anything even resembling Hutch products and claims he owns " intellectual property" on these designs, even without any type of copyright or patent. He has really damaged the retro scene and now we can't get alot of the cool stuff anymore.

I have a All black PK RIPPER and a Haro Group 1 hanging in my garage collecting dust. Haro is all original and the PK was 100%completely redone 2 yrs ago with all new trick parts.. Built it for my son but he don't like it... :rolleyes:

Thats awesome! Good for him imo. That is a vintage product. I got a Hutch Pro Star for my 13th birthday. Still, to this day, there is nothing I have owned in my life that has brought me more joy then that bike did. Dam those pedals tho...:mad::D I still have the scars.:biggrin:

I so wish I kept that thing. Sold it for a Zeronine witch was badass to with Hutch pedals, crank and hubs and rims I believe. Not sure on the rims tho.;)
 
I had a black SE PK Ripper, a white/red Redline Proline w/red alloys, and my favorite, a black Powerlite w/gold shimano crank/alloys (20.5 lbs.)... wow, what memories! :cool:
 
I just saw this, I was wondering why we we suddenly getting so many calls about intercolers (selling them too). We have sold many of these after we tested one on a car. It fits great and does the job as good as any temp wise. If you want a good product and want to save a few bucks this is the best choice going. As far as copy cats go lets just say like it was pointed out that the first intercooler like this was Eastern, then PTE greatly improved the design, Tony D then used the design with a new core and pipe routing, Jack copied that with his core, RJC copied that with his changes, and now GN1 made his changes and got a great product at an affordable price. If anyone got slighted here is it Jack or PTE (Tony if he was still around) they did the most. There is other people getting cores/intercoolers from the same place GN1 does.

I do not want to get involved in the "pissin" contest here, but just wanted to add a couple comments. :)

In the evolution of the Buick front mount IC, there were a couple other people not mentioned who did help in development, and limited production, of this product. The best survive! :biggrin:

As far as the RJC product, he actually has 2 versions - the original and a thicker race version.

I personally use the race version, and have many data logs that shows lower air temp after a pass than the air temp in the burnout box. :eek: These may be "low" boost runs, but still in the 9's.

For me, that is as good as it gets for air-to-air IC, and we have yet to try it with a couple "trick mods" that should make it even better. :cool:
