If your producing less than 600hp, I think it is a good idea to use one for the equal distribution of air. It's my understanding, if you are pushing more than 600hp, the plate is not necessary, because you are moving a sufficient amount of air.(?) I believe the controvercy over the use of the plate stems from the use of alchy condensating and puddling in the intake, causing unequal distribution. Leaning out the front cylinders and causing disasterous results. There are several guys on here that can testify to this w/their own experiences. This is in cooler weather now. I was more fortunate in my experience in my less than 500hp engine, when the alchy cooled the charge to the degree that it cancelled the boost and the car did a nose-dive.
