Well maybe I'm finally on to something.

I have been having this intermitent miss forever.

I pulled the drivers side valve cover and found 3 of the rocker shaft buttonw missing!

Some boken pieces sitting in the top of the head. One was found broken but not too much missing.

Could this cause a miss by the shaft sliding off enough for the number 5 cylinder to miss?

See 2 pictures.

You can also have bent pushrods?

Bob, I really don't think a missing button would cause a miss. The valve is still getting open. Unless, a pushrod is bent like Nick says. The only thing I can see those being used for, is keeping the rocker arms in place when the rocker shaft is removed. Not anything for real concern.

Did you do try the other crank sensor? How does everything look down there?
