What is the popular rod length setup for a stroked stage 2?

4in. bore and 3.625 stroke (153 block)

I was thinking a 6.5in rod would probably be the way to go to give me a 1.8:1 rod to stroke ratio.

Is there any clearance issues using a 6.5in rod?

Probably want to check rod bolt to cam clearance, with that stroke.

Also check your rings and crown thickness. I think the 6.5in rod put the pin in the oil ring.... but I'm running stock stroke and stock length rods so I can't commentate from personal experience. For a street motor though I'd try to keep the crown nice and thick and the pin out of the rings.

Look what a stock rod length is and then ask if you need a rod that long. The reason you see that so much is those were common NA rods. That's too long for the reasons the physicist states.

6.5 rod will get you into the pin and oil ring area. Not a big deal either way.
