When i pulled the rod caps off i put the right cap on the rod, but i forgot which way they went together. Do the indentions go on same side or opposite?

The Indentations go on the same side. And the Indentations face the Inside of the Block.

yup, and also they aren't interchangeable!!!!

When assembling mine somehow 2 got switched and I didnt notice untill I got the second one together and there was about .200" gap under the cap with the bolts finger tight.
