What are your thoughts about the Weber Racing billet 218/212 roller compared to the Comp 212/212?

I currently have the billet Comp 206/206 roller with comp lifters.

Goal would be 130 mph Champion irons/intake, JE pistons, steel caps, stock stroke, SLIC, 93/alchy, PMAC trans, TH3.5, DP, #60, TTchip,
(not yet purchased : converter and turbo) Thinking 62/65 BB and PTC 9.5 NL

231 ci, 206/206 comp roller, ported irons, 93/alky I was able to trap as high as 132, shifting at 6200 rpm.

The 212 is a proven grind, can't speak for the 218, having had no experience w/it. I know there are a few around and I'm sure they speakupon it's behalf.

I have the 212/206 Weber Billet cam w/the morel lifters for my new motor. When I was building it - I talked to Dave Weber about tit and said it was a good cam - "brutal mid-range". I have the T/A SI heads
so I wanted something with trap speed around 130-ish. The 206 would get you bout the 120 -leaning on it and the 218 he said the 218 more suited for mostly track used. Just my 2 cents.

Mike

Weber uses the 218/212 on stroker builds and the 212/212 on stock stroke builds. They said the 218/212 compliments the added CI and stroke more so than the 212/212.

Can I ask about the rest of your combo? Turbo and converter for the 132 with the 206 roller. Thanks

Heads mildly ported, stock rockers and shafts, Stock TB, stock plenum, stock intake, powerstroke front mount intercooler, 60 injectors, single walbro pump, TT chip, LS1 MAF and translator, dual nozzle alky, stock stroke, stock bore, forged pistons, stock rods, stock crank, girdle. Engine built 6 years ago by Kip Asplund, transmission by Lee Thompson. I ran 10.40 @ 132 at the nationals last year during TAI qualifying.

What turbo and converter were you running with the 206 for the 132?

As much as I or any of the other vendors would like to sell you a cam the truth is that while the 212/212 or the 210/215 would give you some gains they likely would not justify the cost unless you need to take it apart for some other reason.

Thanks Mike. It's on the engine stand now, but still assembled.

I'd leave the cam alone .. the 206/206 is no slouch!! Used it on many customers cars. We have used the 212/212 Comp from Mike @ Full throttle. Basically same combo as above but we had 1.55 RRockers and a 9/11 LU converter with a 66 turbo 10.10 @ 132 ish.. then put a 67 turbo an locked up the converter an ran 9.94 @ 138+.. pump gas and alky with drag radials. REMEMBER.. bigger isn't always better
