Running the 212 Comp.Cam Iron Roller??

Just wanted to know how many people are running the Iron roller cam 212-212 from Comp Cams. Have you had any problems with it. Please give me any info on the performance of this cam. Has anyone used higher ratio rockers without problems(piston-valve clearance or coil bind with supplied honey comb spring)??? Thanks,Frank
 
I'm using it with 1.65 ratio T&D roller rockers, no problems here. Used the springs that came with my GN1 heads though. No performance #'s yet, gotta wait for summer!
 
wht would happen if you run roller lifters on a flat tappet cam?

I have a 212 flat tappet and it's great.
 
I dunno, but it doesn't work. The 2 items are not compatible. It was before my time, but I think the "budget roller" fiasco involved a bad idea like that.

I think its kind of like a women with a set of those spiked heel shoes. Its concentrates alot of weight(force) in a small area. the roller part of a roller lifter makes a smaller area where the lifter and cam lobe touch. This makes for a lot of force in a smaller area. then when you throw in the fact the the rollers usually run stiffer springs it just makes it worse and the lobe self destructs.

The other consequence of the roller being smaller than a normal lifter is that on the flanks of the lobes the roller gets less lift than a normal lifter, so you won't get anywhere near the expected lift vs. duration behavior. That's why a roller cam always looks like it has way more duration than it does, assuming your eyes are "calibrated" for flat tappet cams.
 
No, the lobes just look so fat and big in comparison to a flat tappet. Very deceptive but the rollers offer alot of benefits to all engines-turbo or n/a. They are just much more $$$.
