Scanmaster 2.1 no longer working

Tonight when i started my car the scanmaster was completely blank, it never flashed the model number or -- -- when starting. Even when i unplugged it from the power source and connected it back in, the scanmaster flashed 2.1 then went blank. It also flashes 2.1 when i shut the car down. What could be wrong with it? I unhooked a negative battery terminal today while working on the car, could this have somehow caused the scanmaster to stop working?

Almost sounds like what happened to mine the other day. My problem ended up being: The data pin had fallen out of the ALDL connector.

At power up, mine would show 2.1 for a couple seconds and then go blank.
