It works as a fuel stabilizer too for winter storage. Good stuff. Alky works good for keeping an engine clean on the top side anyway.

I used it on a GM 2.5 R-code 4 cyl I have. When the head was off,I dumped it onto one of the piston dishes and left it overnite. It did nothing to loosen the carbon.

Beforehand,I did the method where a vacuum line is used to suck it from the can into the intake and watch for the smoke. Lots of carbon still there when I took the head off.

For some reason,it didn't work for me for carbon removal.

GOOD STUFF,works great especially if you have a few lifters sticking.just follow instructions on how long to run in engine.

I bought 3 can of it today, as they had a "buy 2 get 1 free". Put a can and a half in the truck to help with the "run rough in the morning" blues. There's a ticking lifter in my TR on fire up that goes away after warm up. I see some of you say to add to the oil and just run it 'til the next oil change...kinda skeptical about if I should, if it will fix the problem or if I really oughta run it in my oil for that long.

ive fixed tapping lifters and cleaned out nasty engines by using the following technique.

1. change the oil with any cheap on sale 5w30

2. 1 can of seafoam in the oil

3. new high quality filter

4. let the car idle for 15 min

5. hold it at 2500 for 5 min

6. idle again for 15 min

7. change to good oil and filter.

ATF also works as an internal engine cleaner- just put 1/2 quart in place of the same amount of oil when you change it..
Diesel fuel works for a quick crankcase cleaner, too- drain a couple quarts out and replace it with the diesel.. idle it for about 10 minutes and drain it.. you will not believe how much crap comes out, and i don't know how wise this would be when running newer oils in a flat tappet equipped engine, so do it at your own risk.

for cleaning the top end of the engine, Sea Foam works- you can add it to your gas every once in a while or drip it right into the throttle body and wait for the neighbors to call the fire department.. Marvel Mystery Oil works about the same.. you can also use water to clean carbon out of the combustion chambers- get the engine up to operating temp and trickle it into the throttle body just like with Sea Foam/Marvel Mystery Oil/ATF, trying to keep it right on the edge of wanting to die. it makes a pretty decent steam show, but it clears up pretty fast compared to pouring ATF/SeaFoam/Marvel Mystery Oil into the running engine. the water turns to steam and literally steam cleans the chambers and pistons. you will get a lot of carbon blown out if you have a large buildup, and i even saw a friend's 77 Camaro plug the cat converter with all the crap that came out of the engine- we decarboned it with water down the carb, and it was running kinda sluggish when we were done.. he decided to take it for a test drive and when he did a WOT 1-2 powershift, the y pipe blew right off the front of the cat and big chunks of carbon landed on the road. if you are running an alky or water injection setup, then you do this every time you nail the loud pedal so you don't need to worry about it.

I've done the old H2O down the carb trick before & it worked on that old car. You should probably use demineralized water.

I like to use diesel fuel in the gas tank for an all around engine cleaner. It cleans the entire fuel system from the pump to the injectors. It also will knock the carbon off the valves and tops of the pistons. 2 ounces of diesel fuel per gallon of gas. It will run smoother very quickly. Works as good with carbed engines as it does with injected ones.

This is good info.... along for the ride! Seafoam kinda scares me. I think my busybody neighbors might call the fire department if they saw that much smoke!
