I installed CK servo exactly per instructions, and on my gentle test drive it slipped into 2nd on 1-2 shift and had very little apply in 2nd, meaning I could feel it slipping. I turned around and limped it home. Both springs are present and the parts that are supposed to come out are out. Now what?

Remove the servo and verify the seal(s) are not cut,the little white rings are on the pin. Then report back with your findings. There are 2 lips seal on the piston,2 white seals on the pin. And of course the O ring(it would leak fluid if this was cut or pinched).

Just like SteveV said, make sure the little white teflon rings are in good shape. I replace them with 2 governor rings, as they are solid, and size them in the bore for a bit before installation.

Guys, thanks for the ideas. I parked it and met the wife and kids at the beach for the rest of the day. Bison I will call you tomorrow before I touch anything. Thanks, Jesse.

After my test drive there was definite leakage around the servo cover. Not a flow but a drip. The servo was square in the bore and slid back and forth smoothly and the retainer ring was seated completely in it's groove all the way around the bore. I pulled it out today, everything looked correct and I can't see or feel any knicks in any of the o-rings or seals on the cover, piston, or pin. No knicks in the bore either. There are 2 gray rings on the servo assembly that are a harder material both have slits cut in them so they are not a continuous ring same as the 2 white rings on the pin. Everything is out right now.

Be sure the TV cable retaining bolt is tight and the seal is in place. I have had instances where someone was thinking it was the srvo and it was the TV cable. Im pretty sure the band has dropped a little and you are missing the apply lug when installing the servo.

I would use a mirror and look for the lug on the band,it is possible that you missed the lug.

Chris and Bison both feel like I got the $hit luck and missed the band and based on their knowledge that's what I'm going with. Chris did return my call (greatly appreciated as is Bison giving me his # and insight) and explained to me how I can maybe reposition the band through the pin bore without dropping the pan. It sounded pretty simple since he can do it in his sleep and as I was doing 80 on the highway during our conversation. Missing the band doesn't explain the leaking servo cover either. We'll see what happens. My $ is on me either bring this tranny to someone in the back of my truck or suckering someone into making a house call.

It looks and feels like the band is where its supposed to be and I'm not missing the lug. I've got some sort of sealing issue. I'm gonna replace all the seals/rings and then try the CK servo again or put the stock one back.

Did your original servo have shims on it?If so you should reinstall them as there may be an apply pin that is too short.

Chris, no shims. Just the cover, and the innner and outer piston. I did find a possible o-ring issue. I'll keep you posted.
