Hey all,

I've searched here and in the tech forum and don't see much of anything listed for a flywheel/flexplate shield for the 200. I have had an RCI blanket on the car for years, but we are looking at trying to make the car legal to 8.50 and I want to do things proper (if possible). The universal bent metal flywheel shield will never fit the stock firewall.

Has anyone ever tried to fit the CSR TH400 full length shield on a 200-4R? I know it would take some illieagal trimming. My other thought is to swap over to a multi pattern trans case, cut off all of the BOP ears and use the Chevrolet bolt pattern to use the shorty flywheel only shield that CSR offers. My block is dual bolt pattern so I can go either way.

Most all of the search results were very old and I'm hoping there are more guys out there legally going nines or faster with the 200 these days.

Thanks!,
Brian

That would seem to be the smartest route, but they won't do one for the 200. I've also been warned against it and I'm thinking it's due to the aluminum front pump. There are some indexing/alignment issues to deal with as well. Otherwise that would have been my first choice.

Didn't know that. I see they don't have one for the 700R4 either, uses same Pump design.
I think it would be Ok if the UltraBell was bolted to the Pump and Tig Welded to the Case but would be a lot of work.

I remember seeing a Pic of a 2004R with a Full Shield on it. Can't remember if it was on this site or Montecarloss site.

Thanks for the links. I'm thinking that my best bet right now is the shorty CSR shield on a cropped dual pattern case. Still not sure if that possible though.
I guess this is what we get for wanting to legally go fast with a unique trans.

There has to be someone here on Turbobuick that has run into this before. Too many guys going real fast with 200-4Rs now for this not to have been dealt with.

Thanks again!

Well when we started to run fast we had to do a shield or a blanket. After trying to get a shield on I gave up an just put a blanket on. I have an old Art Carr shield here if ya want to try an make fit. $60 shipped. My daughter worked at the racetrack so they were on us for safety stuff.. They were shocked we couldn't find a fast Buick with a Shield OR blanket.:cool:

Thanks Grumpy. It sounds like the shield you have is for the body of the trans itself. I've had a blanket on the car for years, but what I need to be legal for "nines" is a flywheel/flexplate shield around the bellhousing as well as the blanket/shield around the body of the trans.

Is yours for the bellhousing or for the main trans body?
