has anyone ever had a shift cable bind or shorten?
I have had to put a little force behind putting the car in park. Yesterday it would not shift past reverse to get into park. I detached the cable and placed the car in park by hand and the cable is about 3/4" too short with shifter in park also. The shift cable is about a year old. I can only assume that something is not right within the cable.
Ordered a new cable from advance that will be in tomorrow.
Anyone have any other suggestions?

The rod that attaches to the column might need adjustment.

Ok. Will look at it again. Couldn't see how that would give me more play. The key comes out in park and lights come on in reverse.

The floor shift moves the trans piece and that trans bracket is attached to the rod that pushes the column lever to turn the collar on the column. The trans bracket usually has an oval plastic bushing. It could have worn out and gotten lost/fell out.

Bad cable. Bound and frayed inside the sleeve. New one works ok. Still not easy to put on park.
