Since I have had the car, the shifter on the console will not go into 1st gear. Goes into D and 2 fine, but not first. I have looked for any bent rods going to the tranny, but found nothing. Is there an adjustment guide to help for this? Thanks

Couple of things. Make sure the grommets in the double eyed yoke (sounds like a western movie LOL) are in the eylets on the side of the case where the linkage coming off the column interfaces.
Many are gone from the years or people not replacing them after they pop out from removals.
Also, there is a adjustment nut where the shifter cable goes (slides over tab and lil hitch pin holds the cable eyelet on) at the trans can be adjusted back and forth a lil.

Try twisting the base of the steering column when your going into first. Move the shifter you'll see the portion of the column that twists when the shifter lever is moved. Make sure you are also pushing in the button on the shifter all the way, press it hard.

Your car has the incorrect shifter cable installed, it has the cable for 200C trans(MV9 code)
Replace cable with correct length and for use with 200-4R trans(MW9 code)
Both cables look identical and was probably replaced with incorrect one in the past.
Good luck,

Kevin.
